Am I right in thinking it's being decided at a meeting today if this will happen and who's in?

Yeah was supposed to be recommended at least but seems like it's delayed or something and voted on on 17th. Thought there'd be recommendations at least. Was rumoured there's issues on the other thread but not sure what, maybe only about 8 applicants meet criteria? Or they're waiting on Championship 1 decisions.

I dont think its anything to do with Championship decisions.
IMO none of the Premiership clubs are good enough for this league nor will any other amateur clubs who wish to compete in the Championship, including Hemel.

Sorry did you mean none of the clubs are good enough for NCL or Championship 1?I dont think its anything to do with Championship decisions.

The decision might affect the NCL as Coventry are a potential member? My honest view is Coventry would be okay in division 2/3 (on a par with Dewsbury Celtic) but would struggle higher up. Someone like Nottingham would realistically need to be in a division 3 but are a well run club.

Okay I agree then. Hemel if they recruit could compete with Gateshead and maybe Scorpions but not the likes of Oldham, Rochdale, Skolars and Crusaders. Beyond that not convinced by any more expansion at that level.Championship 1

But the squad this year won't be the same as the one that plays in Champs 1.. We will just have to see how recruiting goes.

I wish you well as its a massive step up from the standard of the rugby you are playing in your present league.
Didnt you concider working your way up possibly via the NCL before you took up this challenge.
What will happen to your existing players if there not up to the standard required as you indicate in your posting.

I suspect that Hemel will run an A team like the Skolars do. What division that will be in, well who knows?
North Derbyshire Chargers - join the stampede
Raising money for Prostate Cancer UK - ran the Spire 10 mile in August and the Worksop Half Marathon in October - more to come in 2013

We are under no illusions to the massive step up but with another 3 new teams we should be competitive. We will run a second team but as Tim as said who knows where at the moment.
One of the reason we took this challenge is so the player pathway that we have at Hemel could lead to players staying with us and producing a relativly local team. We have produced players who have moved on to Skolars, Bronco's, Sheffield, Oldham. And we at Hemel always want to play at the highest level we can.

No reason why that shouldn't continue with the likes of St Albans, South London, Skolars A, Hammersmith, Ispwich etc.

Do you really believe that there will be another three sides?

Honest answer 2 definitely, I believe a 3rd team will appear. My own personal view is that it was a big ask to get 4 teams at once from the criteria the RFL had set.

The RFL hope to create a conference south for the best teams of the midlands and south in which case it couldn't continue. No reason why that shouldn't continue with the likes of St Albans, South London, Skolars A, Hammersmith, Ispwich etc.
