I can only speak from experience with my team Crosfields. This is the first time in I don't know how many years but our A team has yet to concede a fixture. We have had increased player numbers in both our 'first' team squad and alliance squad. I recognise there are issues elsewhere it's up to individual clubs to work out what season is best for them as soon as that settled down both winter and summer rugby will thrive

Back to the original point are the recommendations available yet for if there's a division 3 and if so who's in?

The management committee met last night, so I suppose it won't be long before the applicant clubs are notified whether or not they will be recommended. Then, of course, the NCL clubs will need to know who is being recommended - because they will want to vote them in or out on the next club delegates meeting (which I believe is 24th September).

Exactly right Samsung. That will be happening in the next day or two The members will at the same time be receiving the recommendations and can then consider them prior to the votes on 24th.

If the recommended clubs are accepted by the members then the NCL will be adding a further division to the League , fully under their control. .

So in answer to the question ' Will control shift ? ' on this narrow point , it will ......the applicant clubs , currently largely under the management of the RFL , will be brought under the direct management of the NCL instead........ :)

Hope so. Though bear in mind the NW Men's League is under RFL control as well and so that's a potentially fruitful source of members.

Read into De Capo's statement, your a well run friendly club and easy to get to from East and West of the Pennines.

I would expect that is the case as I expect we're in the best 10 applicants (without knowing the full list).

If Hindley & Kells are succesful applicants it will leaves a 4.5 hour journey down to Hemel, this is a very long journey to ask amateur players to make on a Saturday morning.

Wouldn't it be better for Kells and Hemel to play their fixtures halfway in between (Wigan Pete Morans' club maybe?) which would save on the travel subsidy but I don't think that it would generate much income for the clubs' "home?" games. But maybe the hosting club would benefit in some way.

Purely as a matter of interest Marauder , if you google Workington to Hull and then Whitehaven to Coventry the extra travel time is less than half an hour..........and Wath Brow have been doing the former five times a year !!!!

We sometimes forget that there is rugby league within striking distance north and south of the M62 corridor.......Nottingham is only an hour off West Yorkshire......Food for thought maybe ?

Another application not far from the heartlands was Peterlee Pumas. They have a good set up off the field. Though would need to recruit to be up to standards on the field, from the other North East clubs and depending on rules maybe fringe Gateshead Thunder players.

I reckon they would start off a bit like Bristol Sonics - off the pace a bit at first but after a while I reckon they would step up and be competitive. I think sometimes players are only as good as the level they're playing at.

I think it was Cutsyke Raider who pointed out to me the problem that the U16's could face with them finishing school half-way through their season a few weeks ago at one of their games.

I believe Thatto Heath U16's have this morning officially notified the League that they are to disband/fold and will not be in a position to complete the remainder of the season in the Premier Division :(

These teams are pulling out after the start of the traditional season. There clearly is an issue but as rugby league is a summer sport outside of Yorkshire you can't go winter for just one age group. Either the age boundaries need changing to reflect the different season or there needs to be a split season. These players would have left the game whatever season so we just need to ensure it doesn't affect the other clubs too much.

2, possibly 3 more teams to fold/disband in the very near future at U16's according to their coaches and the way it is going we won't finish the season as we will have nobody available to play outside of those teams we have already completed our league fixtures against, which means most players at U16's will not have played 10 games in a full season since March!

Another Under 16s from a yet another club with a really good youth & junior base! Very worrying!
