This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Firstly it's very disrespectful to a side who have beaten nearly every team put in front of them this year but simply ran out of numbers. But mostly it's very disrespectful to a gateshead side who gave there all to that 80 minutes. Also it would have been a draw if the gateshead goal kicker missed with the touchline kick. Utter bullsh** in my opinion.

not when they had 42 start in the morning that was slashed to 18 start due to very large bets being placed on gateshead, and some even taking them off scratch, this was doing the rounds at our game yeaterday

Bookies will have been well aware of towns squad problems. They are usually fairly accurate with handicaps. This is rubbish

Anybody with half a brain cell(sorry that discounts haven fans), will have seen that we had 15 fit players,1 who was retired,1 who had been released and 1 who hadn't played for town in 2 years and you could see we were going to struggle. It's not as if we were playing a team who haven't got close to victory, they got a bp off haven and pushed barrow for 60 minutes.

The bookies have been caught out fair and square and they are moaning. Someone didn't do their homework on the strength of the Town team and it's backfired on the bookies. It says that William Hills didn't note any significant betting on the match , it was mainly on the one bookies that likes to boast "We hear you haven4ever" .

Of course it would be rather silly if any players had had a bet on the match including players from other clubs!!!!! Wouldn't it?

Malicious rumours yet again from that lot down the road...... they like stirring it because they think it diverts attention away from all the ###### that been going on at JamHaven.....

Also have you noticed that idiot mod jammy dodger is back at deludedfans.com, prepare for a lot of Town fans getting banned off there.

It is now being alleged on the Haven forum by another keyboard warrior that four Town players had sizeable bets on the match and that the lady who took their bets in a Workington betting shop is a Haven supporter. Wonder if I can get a bet on whether he has passed that on to the authorities or just bulls******g for the crowd!!!!!!

Sounds like malicious mischief making to me, how pathetic. And even more pathetic that we have a Shaven fan on here trying to take the moral high ground on something, now that is funny considering the depths that morally bankrupt club has sunk over the past few years.

im not trying to take any moral high ground ,just saying it was talk going around yesterday. Also pointing out that with such a slash of the handicap due to money going on it will always then be open to this kind of speculation

I can't believe they have the nerve to comment on town players on there, especially with certain players on there books who like a dabble on ten.

I agree with haven4ever on this one, there are a lot of savvy lads at sellafield that would have seen the odds for gateshead v town and would have been silly not to have a bet on gateshead with them odds, however,if has one poster on the haven site has the information and facts that 4 of the workington town players did actually place bets against their own team AND the lady at the betting shop can honestly prove and HAVE the duplicate betting slips then i would sack them on the spot.We have enough problems without players betting on their own team to lose, but on the other side, did we not have something like this at haven a few years ago,i am not passing the buck just enquiring if they did,but we will have to wait for the RL to conduct their enquiries and get to the bottom of this rumour, and that is what i think it is just a rumour from someone bent on stirring up trouble for workington town.

I think troutmaster makes a very good point, if town players have done this then it should be the last time they wear the blue and White. Again I must stress I think it's a load of old bull.

This Haven fan in the Workington betting shop said so - so It's obviously true - clearly if you were going to risk your future rugby league earnings to make a quick buck by betting against your own team then you would just walk into a betting shop in the town full of people and place a bet against your own team. They probably did it wearing their town training gear as well.

Suspicious betting patterns - due to the fact town had loads missing and every one within a 25mile radius of sellafield knew this perhaps?? I' be more surprised if there wasn't suspicious patterns given some of the odds the bookmakers were giving!
