WELCOME
to NRL Finals Week 1

Everyone is welcome whether you've entered before or not.
There's just four games to tip this weekend.
There's no Monday game.

FINALS WEEK 1 QUESTIONS:
*Poll Competition:
How many teams in Finals Week 1 will score 20 or more points??

...And now the main event of the week

*Match Tipping Competition
Name the 4 (that's FOUR) winning teams in NRL Finals Week 1 2012

*Points Competition
How many points will be scored by all the teams added together in Week 1 of the Finals?

This is a competition in itself and will act as a tie breaker for the match tipping comp if necessary. This is used as the decider when necessary so do give it a go.

There's no Home/Away win comp in the Finals Series

Animated awards will be given for the winner(s) of each competition question. If you are new, see previous competition threads to get the idea of them.
Match tipping scores are added together.

See our Tipsters' Ladder pinned to the top of the forum topic list page.
New entrants are always welcome: entering the comp is a great way to get involved in every game of the NRL this season.

Good luck everyone

Enjoy your Rugby League!

Yes, that's right.
Raiders could surprise a lot of people and do what Warriors did last season.

It sure has! It doesn't seem that long since we tentatively made our first picks in Round 1.
Mind'st you a lot of my selections have been tentative this season! :D

I've realised why Simon is at the top of the tipping.
He picks what he thinks will win unlike those of us who always pick our favourite team to win (Warriors in my case, Storm for GLD BR, and Dragons for RLW). Simple eh. Must try it next year :) :)

Ah the old 'head versus heart' dilemma.
I'll go with the heart usually when it comes to my team.
Actually that has served me well in the last few years.
It didn't serve me well in that run of poor results for Storm 3/4 way through the season though so I take your point KT

Nearly kick off time just over twenty minutes to the whistle starting the clash of two of the favourites to take the 2012 Premiership - Bulldogs v Sea Eagles.
What a great game in prospect.
Which of the two teams will be straight into Week three's semi final?
What I'm looking forward to -
Two top class full backs opposing each other: Dally M winning Ben Barba who's had a sensational season and high scoring Manly magician Brett Stewart

Well as might have been expected it has been a feisty start.
Following two or three minutes of the phusicals from Manly which saw two Sea Eagles put on report Ennis quipped to the ref " We knew they were coming here for that." Encouraging the ref to 'take charge'

Very close and physical game now we are well into the first half.

Manly's tactic of trying to upset and rile the opposition seemed their best hope of pulling off a win here but Bulldogs were too big, strong, hard working and focussed to be deflected from their purpose.
Despite a grandstand finish Manly weren't able to breach the Doggies defence in the whole of the second half, whereas Doggies trailing at half time had a better second half up their sleeves and were deserving winners.
Jamie Lyon limping off early in the first half wasn't what the Sea Eagles needed.

Full Time: Bulldogs 16 - 10 Sea Eagles

That's a good start for all our tipsters this weekend.
