My 6 year old son has recently started playing rugby and I have bought him one of these T-Shirts with pads in. I'm not thrilled with these as they're not a patch on the protection offered from shoulder pads when I played 20 years ago.
Are these the only product available? I have spent hours on the internet looking for the older style but with no success.

Thanks.
So as he can play, anyone any thoughts on the shoulder pads, please?

have you tried cutting a hole in a sofa cushion (poncho style)? this should give your son the look and feel of old style shoulder pads.
