The RFL have today announced they have accepted our application for Championship Rugby next season, despite rumours to the contrary. Well done to everyone concerned with this tremendous achievement: the hard work begins now for next season.

That's excellent news Jimmy. I've also heard various rumours and in fact one this afternoon. I have always treated them as rumours but nevertheless it's nice to read it in black & white.

promotion was certainly not garanteed for any club due to the problems in CC1 and Super league and the fight for application for promotion did not stop untill the 11th hour

Messages such as that,FB,are a bit pointless without a bit more substance. We've got promotion what more do you want.
I might add that your message is exactly why so few people use this Forum.

My thoughts exactly, Michael. The banter on here used to be very witty!

Outside of the obvious , what is the full rfl criteria for promotion ?

I think I'm right in saying that all clubs who qualify for promotion by playing results have to apply to the RFL for promotion and the RFL have absolute power to grant promotion or veto it. I maybe wrong on this and if so I'm sure somebody will say.

You are correct Michael, The application process is to ensure that the clubs being promoted have the ground lighting to the correct LUX level or in the event that they dont have the correct lighting the club has a buisness plan in place to ensure the lighting is in place within 12 months of moving into that league. further to this they must ensure that the club has sufficient plans/funds to survive the move up.

Do you think Oldham would have met the criteria had they finished in the top four?

not a chance but i bet they would have found an alternative vunue to play from. that league is gonna be the death of a few clubs i reckon and the rfl will play around again with the league structure again next season.

Was there any serious doubt on this?
Obviously as a Donny fan I don;t follow the Barrow rumours too closely, but surely there was never really an issue? (or was there just general stirring?)
PS Congrats on a well earned promotion
