I started this topic last season. Even though our gates have been fantatsic this season, I really hope that we can play our home games on a mixture of days. I would like to see the summer games played on a Saturday Night. I know that we could take more money through the bar and snack bar with groups of people who are out for the night. Get some entertainment on before the game, maybe a singer or something to do for the kids or a pre-match game. I know this has been tried before but we need consistency. Theres no point having it on once or twice and saying it does't work, It needs to be on all the time so people get used to it. I could go on and on for the reasons to play on a Saturday night. What do other people think??

I prefer the Saturday night summer games too, the club must do really well on the bar takings at these games, and the atmosphere always seemed better. One thing though, you'll never please everyone which ever way the club decide to go.

I prefer saturday night for reasons explained above, although I like sundays too.
Friday is a no no !!!!!
If we compete next season, we should be looking at average crowds well in excess of 1700, with several games attracting 2000 plus.

gate stats carried over the past six years show the best average crowds come from sunday games.

I think it's difficult to judge Neil because of performances on the field but according to my stats the last 5 years produces the following averages on league games only. I think that prior to the DJ regime all matches were on Sunday but then games after Easter were switched to Saturday night. ( This is from memory only)

If we had the match on the Saturday we would have all day to organise events which would attract more supporters. We should be trying to get the people who go to the Kill One and the Amrose. They must be making a killing.

The home game spread sheet i produced shows that individulal home games played on a sunday in each year had better average gates than any other days.

The only way you could confirm for the future is try a few games on a Friday or Saturday but we must all remember you have 2 teams that need to agree to the change in the day the game is played

I hope your televised Thursday night games are against your local rivals and not teams from Yorkshire. Friday nights again for matches against Yorkshire teams is a no no so you're looking at Saturday evenings or Sunday afternoons for those. I don't see either affecting the away support whereas Thursday or Friday would kill the away support.

If there is one good thing that came from the DJ regime it seems to be the increase in supporter base. We seem to have lost a lot of our support in the relegation year 2005. Some of the gates in 2000 & 2001 were down to 500 to 600.
The evidence seems to be that Saturday is better for gates but I feel that's very misleading on these figures bearing in mind the average this season.
Anyway all that is history and let's look forward to life in Championship next season.

The above are average home gates for Saturdays and Sunday games for each year, there dosent apear to be any games played on a saturday during 2007 unless my info is incorrect

We also need half time entertainment as well - doesnt take much but adds to the overall experience of the game. Something like a catch the bomb competition doesnt take much to organise and provides a laugh for speccies as a fat bloke runs round the field doin his best to catch towering kicks.
Pre match entertainment - simple - get a match on. Plenty of amatur teams to pick from in the area who im sure would be more than happy to have the oppertunity to play their.

Most amateur teams now play in summer and not sure that they would be keen on losing a home fixture and the much needed revenue it brings. I know my club wouldnt be.

Can they not give them a percentage of the crowd which would make up for the loss of revenue. I'd imagine it would benefit both parties aswell as create a stronger relationship between Barrow and the local ameteur clubs.

This as been mentioned before to me but I don't know how far it has gone. How about a Pub League 7's or 9's match before the game. Im sure the Raiders bar would put a team in.
