Anyone now kick off time / date for your game against Wizards?

Fraid not.
We are trying to juggle ground availability to suit everyone.

Telford Raiders U12 side won the NWC Development Cup at Fylde yesterday. Terrific effort and just reward for one of the best run clubs in the Midlands who regularly punch above their weight in developing quality junior players.

Yeah they always seem to be the best of the small clubs and do well at younger age groups. Though think the gap between them and the weakest of the big clubs (ie Birmingham) is closing. Just a shame Telford couldn't run U16 or U18 this year. Though this is a bigger problem as players move on from our successful U16s league into an U18 league where there's 8 fixtures of which on average 4 will happen which is risking losing the very good work put in at younger ages. On the other hand we're a development region and managing better than West Cumbria.

I think the U16s were a bit of a victim of their own success. Several players went to play in the NWC in the short season and decided to stay for the summer.

Surprised they travel that far but can understand why they'd want a higher level. At least they're still in the game.

Bramley certainly weren't for real the first 2 games last year or the first game and the Hemel game this year.

How does this work? Is it anything like the thing in the Paralympics?

Not necessarily a higher level, but a longer season with more regular fixtures.

Nothing like it. No forward passes or knock-ons!

Same rules as Tag RL, but in a wheelchair. 5 drives and a kick! (done with a fist).

I think I'm going to have a go at some training sessions in Medway. We've got an office in Folkestone so I'm trying to find a way to justify going there more often!

The game played in the Paralympics is good, but it's not rugby.

what first game this year?

They couldn't raise a team in week 1. Forget who against. They then had 2 games called off for weather.

Do you know the facts then?

For your information the game was against Warrington Wizards and was mutually arranged beforehand for a later date.

Yes it was rearranged because Bramley couldn't raise a team.

Harry Jepson Semi Finals: Northampton Demons 34-12 Edinburgh Exiles, London Skolars 46-22 Gloucestershire Warriors

I'm not anti Skolars or pro Glos, but I was told that the Skolars A team that travelled to play Glos had 5 first team players in their squad of 16. Surely if this is a proper Skolars reserve/A team, they should be playing in a higher league, this years NCL3 for example, or if they stay in the Southern RLC where all the other clubs are completely amateur, then they should be as well. If Skolars win the HJ final with first teamers in their squad, surely it will take a bit of the shine off their victory.
Any Skolars fans out there want to add anything, as I said, I was' told' this, so it could be wrong.

From the Skolars' website:

Even though the first team was not in action, other than evergreen Chris Appleton (46) it was a young side that took the field at Oxford, with just ten first team appearances in 2012 between them.

It's hard for the Skolars as I believe the Southern Prem is an 'open league'. Last year when St Albans were in Southern Prem we played Skolars twice. First time we played their 'normal' side and won very comfortably, second time we played them the first team didn't have a game that weekend and they played eight full first teamers and won. I think its a question of damned if you do and damned if you don't. If you are Skolars and have a couple of players coming back from injury/lay offs etc, then the A team is where you play them, and no probs with that, but if you put first teamers into your A team to win what should be your A teams games, at the expense of your A team players, then thats not on. After this seasons run of wins (only lost one game I believe) I wonder if the the Skolars A team might just consider a step up to whatever the next level might be in 2013.
