It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Matty did sign back for them as the rumours are very strong at Sellafield, even from one of our players dads. But nobody is irreplaceable, just look at our teams gone by and we've always had a good hooker even in a poor team. We are getting a few signed on now, so I'm sure our bod will have irons in the fire should he decide the offer is too good to refuse. You can't blame lads at this level of chasing the money, I certainly won't boo him if he does go like a big majority of the Haven fans have done when he's in a Town shirt.
The race is not always to the swift nor the battle to the strong, but thats the way to bet!

My belief is that Matty is a genuine bloke and if I am right he will sign for the club that did most to help him when he needed help. As far as I aware he has always been paid at Town and I don't think he is owed any payments. If he decides to sign for Haven then so be it, we had him for a short while due to his injuries and personal matters but every time he played he gave his all and that's all we could ask for from any player. It remains to be seen who they get as coach at Haven and if he is prepared to take on the travellers and their training routine, etc, which will affect the way others think, I have no doubt.

Thats right Keith . He's been good for us but we've been good for him to in more ways than one . He does come across as a good straight up bloke and he's entitled to weigh up his options and negotiate ( as I believe they're still doing ) . All these haven fans using words like definitely should show the lad some respect and like all of us just wait for a decision to be made. In fact no , he should be shown all those posts and see how they take him for granted and he'll certainly stay here!!

It would be a bit of a kick in the teeth for Dave Bowden I guess if he did go and hopefully his decency and integrity will play some part in Matty's decision. We all want him to stay, he's a very popular player, I hope he knows that, but if he does go then so be it we'll move on and like Voodooguru I suspect most Town fans would have far too much respect for the guy to ever jeer him.

I'm sure Matty has had enough time now to make his mind up where he is going to play next season and time to come out and say so in order for either club to move on with teambuilding. If he is going to Haven then so be it and thanks for what little time we had you at Town and good luck for the future. If you are staying at Town then it doesn't need saying how much of a fans favourite you have become and hopefully it leads to bigger and better things in the future. Either way it's time for decisions to be made and announced,

If he dosnt want to be here then fair enough let gim go, but I just hope if he does go he realises Haven ######ed him about last time he was there....
I wouldnt announce anything til we have finished the season....IF he stays then yea announce it straight away as it would give the other players a massive boost but if he is leaving it may distract the players.

Up the Town!!!!

Hopefully he will stay but if he goes there will be quality hookers wanting to play in this Town pack im sure!

On a lighter note anyone else keep thinking that this thread is about the legend that is Gary "Jackie Salmon" Mattinson
Forget Chuck and Chad I am the real legend killer

I think the fact that nothing has been announcesd on him probably means he's off back to haven. If he was staying the club would want to announce it to stop all the rumours like they did with shacks and Karl. At the end of the day we will bf fine either way. I think we've done great to already get miller, stack etc signed for next year.

Haven are a bit of a shambles at the moment and have a lot of work to do (far more than town) before next season so i cant understand why he is re-joining them.

If he does go It won't be because the BOD haven't done their utmost to keep him. I wouldn't want them paying out silly money that we can't afford, even though he is our best player. Haven will be desperate to get him back, they will see it as a major coup for them in getting one over us, it wouldn't suprise me if they broke the bank for him, I just hope foor Matty's sake they can keep up the payments.
If he does go to haven I will be gutted, but I wish him all the best, he has been fantastic for us and equally we have been fantastic for him. We have done well to secure the bulk of our better players, but you can't win them all, I reckon haven will need to find another 10 decent players if matty is to make any impact for them, he can only do so much.

Well rockerlad if what you say is true ,and i have heard similar, then i think haven are being brave. Squads will need to well balanced for the championship.

for haven its more of a mark of intent!

my view is, if i was a haven fan i would not want him back.

I was gutted when Matt Henney left the reds for barrow, then when i went down to holker street to watch barrow v reds he score pased us and started kissing the barrow badge, from then on i was finsihed with him, he eventually re-joined the reds but it didnt last long as the corwd go on his back from the word go.

One thing joining out bitter rivals but the killer was him kissing the barrow badge

Now i am sure matty has kissed the town badge after scoreing v haven

any club paying daft money for one player isnt stating intent its a recipe for relegation

The word bancruptcy goes eqaully well with Town as well as Haven.
perhaps matty wants to return to the club where he learn't his trade he is a Brow product and it is for you rare for a Copland amateur to sign direct for you lot unless they are not good enough for us.
Mind we spent so much time in a division above you that was bound to be the case.
