Town stood by him when things got tough and he went on leave, but I suppose little things like that count for nothing these days its all about who promises the most £££££££££££££.
Anyhow whatever top he decides to pull on next year, good luck and I wish the lad well..

The word bancruptcy goes eqaully well with Town as well as Haven.
perhaps matty wants to return to the club where he learn't his trade he is a Brow product and it is for you rare for a Copland amateur to sign direct for you lot unless they are not good enough for us.
Mind we spent so much time in a division above you that was bound to be the case.
Oh my god.... they really are coming out of the woodwork again!!!! Is it rare for a Copeland amateur to sign for Town first? No!!! You seem to have forgotten about lads like Wear, Kitchen and many others that have signed for Town from the amateur ranks.
As for bankruptcy...... Haven went bankrupt to stop HMRC winding them up, and then started up again. Town didn't go bankrupt, they kept going and made an effort to pay back the creditors.
Haven are making a big gamble, yet again, by hiring Woods and splashing out big money to sign players on. It might work, but it also might fail.

Don't RL players contracts run till November? If he signs for another club before his contract expires there'll be a transfer fee, season or no season. I hope he stays, but he's got to do what's right for him & his family. No amount of wishful thinking from our friends down the road will change that.
I don't think that can apply now. Look at Bracek at Barrow he's already announced he is off to Halifax next year, and Wiper and Haggerty have signed for Barrow next year!!!!
"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimesion, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave hadfield - Independent 25th Augsut 1996.

Have they signed or just agreed terms?
They can sign pre-contract agreements. Players are contracted until 1st November but are legitimately allowed to talk to other clubs from 1st September onwards.

Well nothing from the club on the subject, but it seems clear that Matty has signed for Town and not the worst club in Cumbria as we were lead to believe, just like to say a big well done to all, pleased you are staying Matty,( never once thought you would have gone back to the darkside) and well done BOD on investing in local players, keep it going.
Thats why haven have a signed pre contract agreement with him for a 2 year deal, so yeah he was never going to sign for us was he!!!!.. Think this has the potential to be very messy but if the clubs are sensible then i have no doubt he will end up being a town player next season, as if he has changed his mind with haven then what use it is it trying to force him to stay. But a three year deal is a massive commitment for some one coming back from a bad injury. To be honest i'm suprised he even thought about coming back to haven.
