I would hope that Barrow will do somthing simillar with another SL club. Mike Sunderland had good talks going with Warington over the past months and im sure the new Direcctor of Rugby will be planning ahead.

Highlighted this a few weeks ago that the Wolves were linking with Swinton - http://www.totalrl.c...s-v-warrington/
And since other Super League clubs are doing the same, we could easily be left in the lurch unless we form a similar link. Problem is there aint many SL teams left to do so with. Similar deals also exist with:
Leeds - Hunslet
Hull - York
Bradford - Dewsbury
Wakefield - Donny
Huddersfield - Batley
Broncos - Skolars
Wigan - South Wales
Barrow should try forge a relationship with Saints in that sense - use Ade Gardner as ambassador

Agree that saints would be a good tie up now wolves have been snaffled

Don't understand why we want a partnership. I think clubs are having a maximum of 6drs and 4 loans in one season. Its just a move to make CC clubs slightly more sustainable but have too sacrifice any ambition of reaching the top tier and becoming a 'feeder' club to the top team. I'd rather watch a barrow team full of locals than half local and half Saints fringe players.

But the fact is that at the moment we are a long long way from SL, and such a move could only benefit us, since we would be able to share not only players, but also it would be beneficial to our coaches and training regimes. I fear that if we dont forge a link we could easily be left behind 'lesser' clubs in the next few seasons, then doubters of a link up will undoubtedly change their tune.
This season we could possibly had use of the likes of Gaskell and Foster had a link with Saints been established.

We'd basically be coming Saints 'A' side though which I don't want too see. If I wanted to see that side I'd go watch their under 23s. I'd rather finish mid table with a squad 18/25 local than finish top with the majority from Saints. Its not the name you support its everything which goes behind it. How much money did we receive for Gardner ten or so years ago? In this system we'd probably receive peanuts.

Altogether it was worth 100k to us for Ade but those days have gone.
We've been down this road on the Forum several times in the last 10ish years but it didn't work. It was agreed that we playb an annual friendly against Saints but it didn't really work. I agree I would like a side with 90% locals but the 3 lads from Warrington particularly Ryan Shaw became great favourites.

If Ryan is back next season Warrinton will not agree to a season loan...

No need to worry, strong rumours coming out that Oldham will become Saints 'A' side now, with former saints legend Bobby Goulding as coach. Oldham expect to be issued with a winding up order so Saints will foot the bill and rescue them to secure this deal.
