1) Had I posted a thread about Harry and the size of his penis, there would have been a few choice replies.

2) Between this thread, ones about women's beach volleyball and general lazy, sexist, judgemental comments elsewhere, I am beginning to despair of this forum.
I always believed it to be the place were the intelligent RL fans resided, but I am rapidly losing hope, and posting less, which is a great shame for the forum's diversity as I am one of the few female members still kicking about. For how much longer remains to be seen.

1) There would have been some choice replies, but I bet hey would have been joining you in taking the ###### and, as others have said, making further, suitably juvenile comments, regarding ginger nuts etc.

2) You are probably right about the other threads, but in this instance I see it as just a bit of gentle mocking and mainly poking fun at the whole situation. A situation to some extent brought about, as I see it, by the sheer hypocrisy of the British press and their faux outrage at the invasion of this persons privacy while at the same time exploiting the same invasion of privacy to their own ends. The reason I posted the link I did (and for those who didn't follow it, it didn't link directly to the photos themselves, but to 'let me Google That for you') was just to demonstrate that these pictures are only a couple of mouse clicks away, should anyone be bothered to try and find them. Not that I was myself.

As for the royal family I'm pretty ambivalent towards them, I don't really care what they get up to. I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to find these photos, or any other stuff about them. Lets face this woman is only famous and of interest to anyone because of who she is married to, and he is only famous by the fact of whose vagina he happened to emerge from. But I am no way in favour of invasions of peoples privacy, regardless of who they are and the press had no more right to publish these photos than they would of you or me or anyone else for that matter without their permission.

As the OP I started this thread as a tongue in cheek comment. Thinking about it, I guess it was always likely not to turn out that way. I was going to accuse some posters of a SOH bypass, but that'd be unfair. Everyone's entitled to their own reaction.

I don't get the joke, please explain.

One aspect of this and other incidents relates to the control of the media by the rich and powerful.

Whilst this kind of thing goes on, and it's very grubby, prurient, and sexist-a bare chested male celebrity would be neither here nor there, or would be described as a hunk and nobody would think twice, it means that the rich and powerful can't have things all their own way and that they can't control what is said or shown about them in the media.
These people would be very annoyed if something wasn't printed or broadcast that they actually wanted the public to see. The fact that people want to see kate Mountbatten's lals is a sad reflection on the public.

There was no joke but you knew that anyway.....i think people were curious to see what all the fuss was about....then they were a bit disappointed.....insult to injury eh?.....the comments were a bit crude but oh well....life goes on etc etc

All I've read on here has been a bit of fun.
Maybe you should start a thread about the size of Harry's penis.

I very much agree with this. Being serious for a minute...I wouldn't want any women who might read or post on here to feel insulted or unwelcome. If that is the case, then I will apologize if she would feel that way.

However, where do we draw the line between a bit of arsing about and pee taking and what is genuinely offensive? There was plenty of mickey taking over Prince Harry (and his genetalia) loads. Why should we not have a bit of a joke if the victim of the photos is a woman? Isn't that false and not a little bit patronizing?

Call me radical but I do consider women equal. This means I don't apply different thinking to them.

Unless my tea isn't on the table of course.

Anyway, from where I'm sitting* the whole issue is a lot of nonsense as the photos are not of the Duchess of Cambridge - they are of someone called the Countess of Strathearn!

kate Mountbatten's lals

Hmm. Wouldn't she be Kate Windsor? Or given that her hubby's mam & dad split up when he was little, conviceably she'd be Kate Spencer. Or follow the modern trend and stay Kate Middleton? But Mountbatten?

And while we're at it. Lals? Of the 70 odd synonyms for boobies I can think of off the top of my head, Ive never heard that one. Is it cockney rhyming slang, given her in-laws live in London?

Kate Middleton actually calls herself Mrs Wales.

Surely that title belongs to this classy bird*.

"The SMC's principal responsibility is to remain neutral"
