East Hull 50 v Saddleworth Rangers 22. EH raced into a 34 nil lead after half an hour against SR who only travelled with 14 men. All credit to SR who battled manfully in warm temperatures and got some good tries on the board. SR actually scored five tries and only a single conversion.

Oulton Raiders 12 v 22 Leigh Miners
Leigh Miners kept themselves on course for a top six finish with a tough 22-12 away win against relegation threatened Oulton Raiders on a very warm afternoon at Raider Park. The opening quarter was tough going for both teams in the hot conditions but after going set for set against each other for a good twenty or so minute’s it was the home defence that cracked first when Miners broke down the right to send in centre Liam Coleman to score, Jonny Youds adding the extras from out wide to give the score 6-0. Miners went back to back from the next set following the restart, breaking early in the tackle count down the left to get the Oulton defence on the back foot, with Oulton struggling to get organised in defence a couple of plays after the line break Jonny Youds put a kick through the Raiders defence to allow Liam Coleman to race onto the ball and step the full back to go in for his second try in as many minutes under the posts, Youds adding the extras to put Miners 12-0 in front. Oulton responded with a try of their own out on the left and kicked a penalty goal right on half time to give the score 12-6 at the interval in favour of Miners.
At the start of the second half it was the home side that come out the stronger putting plenty of pressure on the Miners defence looking to draw level on the scoreboard, after soaking up the Oulton attack Miners started to get back into the arm wrestle after a slow start to the second period. Jonny Youds increased the lead to eight points with a penalty goal and a few minutes later he was in for a try under the posts after some excellent work from Scott O’Brien shrugging off a few Oulton defenders to break the line and go straight down the middle, drawing the full back to send in Youds, Youds converting his try to put Miners 20-6 in front. Oulton were allowed straight back into the game when Miners overplayed in their own half turning the ball over and from the next set The Raiders were in for their second try, scoring under the posts to give the score 20-12. That’s how the score stayed until the final minute of the game when Youds added his second penalty goal to give the final score 22-12 to Miners, leaving Oulton with a massive mounting to climb in their final four games of the season in their battle to avoid the drop.
Next week Miners are away to top of the table West Hull.

Yeah they were caught up in the hold up on the M6. I'm not sure what the criac was with the decision to postpone the match, there was talk of playing at 6pm but I was in the club and seen the match officials ###### off at about 4pm
