This has also been proven with the raiders, 90% of the raiders squad are local with only ballard and ostler traveling and maybe dandy, the rest are based in barrow apart from the dual reg players off coarse, and 1 of them ryan shaw, is a barrow lad.been better than us all season and proves that given the chance local players can shine and make the grade

As for the game, town totally dominated and controlled the game, totally agree with the man of the match as Karl olstrum was absolutely brilliant. I can't pick a negative out because there wasn't one. Although can we have an inquest who that was wearing number 5 for town. Surely it wasn't calders, he was absolutely outstanding and his centre partner Morris was equally as good. Loved to see 2 ex have players score and they both loved it. Any deluded idiot from down the road who thinks doran is the bees knees should watch that game and compare him to shacks, stack and phillips. He's not in the same league as any of them. Brett carterwas brilliant at 6 and at full back and thought Carl forber was the best half back on the pitch by s country mile. 1-17 were simply far superior and congratulations to each and every one of them.

Town tackled like trojans today and sickened the shavenites .i am banned off their knowitall forum so i cant go and gloat!!First thing first is that Elliot miller is fine. Really worried for the guy and hope he's ok. This is the most important thing about today and whatever the problem was and is let's hope the lad a speedy recovery.

As for the game, all of the team played well, every single one of them. However, special praise for 3 players - Chris Annakin is just immense at this level and was fantastic today he was everywhere, Karl Olstrum took the game to them at every opportunity, and finally a huge well done to a player who gets his fair share of stick - Carl Forber. To kick 7 from 7 out of that swamp was a tremendous effort and shows the value of having a good goalkicker in the team.

Charlo said on the radio after the game that Miller didn't have a broken jaw or anything like that it was just a case of concussion. That came about purely and simply from the conditions. As he brought a ball out from his own line he ran about 20 metres and as he approached Haven tacklers he lost his footing and skidded into their legs. He got up a bit gingerly and as play continued Town scored. Miller went to congratulate John Patrick for scoring and was walking back to the half-way line when he just flopped on to his knees. It was a very worrying time but it seems that he is on the way to recovering fairly quickly.
"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimesion, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave hadfield - Independent 25th Augsut 1996.
