Elliot deserves young player without a doubt. Can't believe thacks and Phillips aren't up though.

Thacks must be a misprint the clowns . Who are the superstars who've had a better year than him ? Young player in our league ...no Phillips performing brilliantly right out of the amateurs every week . Whoever else they have on that list I'll take him over them . Good old RFL

Some strange nominations - there's 2 of the nominees for Coach of the Year who's teams lost more games than they won and didn't even make the play offs.

Brett is 23 I think he is to old for young player? He has had a better season than Dave Peterson for a start. Thacks must be bemused at his ommission

Not one person has said well done Matty. He has been outstanding all year put his body on the line and in the process
has damaged his ankle and shoulder.
If he had not been injured we would of beaten Oldham and Gateshead and finished top of the league thats how good he is.
Matty has been outstanding.

Thacks, Phillips, Carter and Miller have all been outstanding and could also of been nominated.

I don't think anyone means any disrespect to Matty mate. In fact its quite the opposite because he's such a great player that we kind of expect him to be in the running for these kind of awards. Its a compliment to him really that his nomination is just what we expected.

Well said derwent. We all know matty has been fantastic and probably deserves towns player of the year. I think the problem most of us have is Paul Cooke in over thacks or Phillips.

Miller for sure, has Peterson, good as he is, really played enough games IN C1 to be in the running ?

As for Matty you're not going to get too much debate

Paul Cooke may be a string puller and no disrespect to the lad but that surprises me . Even the Barra commentators yesterday said he's very slow and can't run . He seems to pass and then just come into it to kick on last tackle , plus he rarely shows away . These awards should concentrate on big games if it's tight between nominations , and in they're biggest 4 ( 3 in Cumbria and yesterday ) he didn't show. Thacks has shown everytime we've needed him .

That's because he broke/ruptured his kneecap in the 1st tackle of the game and played on for 20 minutes with it. His season is over, meaning he won't be playing against us on Sunday.

Is that right ? I caught Joss saying that early on. That's good news then . General point is the same though , when they're not dominating he's anonymous.
