What a joke C.H saying he would welcome aboard anyone prepared to help, saying that he does it because no one else will.No one else will because he is there who in their right mind would work with him,the club is on its knees and it would take someone really special or with money to burn to alter that. The best thing that could happen would be for him to get out then maybe someone would come if he stays the club will be history.

No capital assets and circa £275k debt, £1 to take the debt of his hands would be generous.....do you think he'll sell for that amount allroughyed?

I''ll take the club off his hands if he gives me £300k. That would just about make it solvent
and we could start from scatch like he did.

His shares are worthless but suspect he may also want compensating for taking 'voluntary redundancy from his RLF funded salaried role'.

Perhaps I should make an approach and publish the response on here......I'll get back to you mate.

Most of us know sweet Fanny Adams about anything that goes on at the club - I'd never personally criticise him for lack of effort or for wanting to do a good job as temporary custodian of our club.

Rome wasn't built in a day.All the money in the world can do nothing until planning agreement is reached for the development of the ground. None of us know the full situation. Who knows in twelve months we might have some terracing a few more facilities and have won CH1.CH has asked for help, time to put your best foot forward I think or dare I say it shut up.

Without a sugar daddy I think CH is doing as much as he can but as he says needs help.

Often the biggest steps are actually acknowledging the problem and then asking for help. I think this will have been a big step for CH and he should be apluaded for it. I have an inkling it will not have been easy for him.

The most obvious relationship would be an Oldham Sports Club, that is a joint venture between Oldham Athletic and ORLFC based at a revamped Boundary Park. Nothing else makes sense. Joint use works perfectly well elsewhere and you can reel off a score of towns where this is happening. However I would like to see it taken a stage further with a joint company responsible for both soccer and rugby. The two could be administered separately reporting to a Board in overall charge. Both organisations are currently struggling with historical problems inherited from badly run administrations in the past and many of their difficulties are not of their own making. STRENGTH IN UNITY should be the watchword and it would be easier for Oldham Council to get behind a joint venture as well as easier to seek outside investment and grant funding.

Donquixote whilst I could not disagree with what you say, I cannot see that happening in the real world. You only have to look at other examples, the worst case being Lancashire Lynx and Preston North End. Even Hornets do not seem to get a fair crack of the whip in their ground sharing with the football club and there is supposed to be a stadium company managing the facilities. For us to ever dream of top flight Rugby again, never mind Championship, we need far better facilities than we have now, and a joint venture may be the only answer to that.

Take your point Saints10Coach but it's about having the will to make it happen. I don't think things can go on as they are for either club. As regards ORLFC no matter what happens with Whitebank it will NEVER be developed to a standard suitable for Super League whereas we already know Boundary Park is acceptable even before redevelopment. The only alternative would be a brand new stadium and the commitment to BP seems to have knocked that on the head.

For me, Whitebank should be developed as a training venue for OAFC (full time)during the day, and ORLFC (part time) in the evenings. In addition, the ground would be used for all Reserve and junior fixtuires for both clubs, whilst leaving BP for both the first team activities.
Whitebanks pitch dimensions do nothing in terms of open rugby, and the length of the pitch is also a major issue for playing RL on, especially for a pro side. It would work wonders for Reserve and Academy games coupled with a smaller social club to bring in some extra revenue on game days, and as a venue for private events etc. A gym could be easily accomodated, the stadium made neater, and if fairness, a better deal for the local community.

Good point there Oldhamer.Whitebank is not fit for purpose as far as CH rugby is concerned.

AS for CH asking for people to to come in with him is fine but how many have done that in the past being a director alongside of him who
left for whatever reason.

Totally agree. So can we broker an agreement between CH, Simon Corney and Jim McMahon? Might save an awful lot of money being wasted on projects that will never come to fruition.

Completely agree Oldhamer - a balanced and well considered view.
