Good news if we can find him a centre as good as faal.

Quite pleased Austin has re- signed. He has lost a bit of pace, but has developed his game in other areas - including leadership. What we need now is an out and out sprinter for the other wing - i'm fed up with the dogs letting anybody who'll listen, know how quick they are going to be next year. Thought wainwright looked pedestrian this season.

What you mean with Potts, Campbell, Geeenwood signed on and hopefully Alex Brown to come soon;).

Good signing for you guys. Very decent winger at this level.

Just hope Matty Nicholson, Josh Tonks, Scott Spavin, Joe Chandler, Ryan Esders and Gregg Scott resign now. All the rest aint good enough to keep on. (Luke Blakes off to Australia)

Add to that, if true standoff Jay Mel Coleman and Tom Lillycrop( young prop fom wakey who wev aparantly signed), then that would take the squad up to 14.

I dont think Wainwright, Samuels, Barlow, Akaidere and Schofield are good enough for this level. Not sure about Billy Harris too?

I could have a guess at Greg Scott, Chandler and Spavin?

I think Joes struggled with not getting game time this season. I know Joe well and believ hel be a good player for us after a good pre season. The good thing about Joe is hes a Dews lad who wants to play for us and we aint seen the best of him at all in his few games wev seen him.As for Gregg Scott, makes afew errors but as potential IMO.

I wouldn't have minded if Austin had not re-signed. I know he is well regarded in terms of team spirit but don't think he is that quick. Would have preferred bringing a younger player in.

I tend to agree, but in the absence of a younger quicker player he's not a bad one to have in your team. What we must hope under GM is that favouritism is given a back seat and that players are given their chances on merit.
Believe what you see, don't see what you believe.

Most of the time though hes pretty safe and doesnt make loads of errors like some wingers at this level. Hes not guna go 80 metres like Eddie Rombo but hes safe?

Personally, I think Esders, Scott and Spavin should all be released as they are just simply not good enough!

Coleman is a real conundrum of a player. He has genuine talent and can produce some moments of fantastic skill, but often seems to absolutely vanish in games and looks pretty unfit for a halfback.
What I'm looking for is someone who can contribute to what England has given to the world: culture, sophistication, genius. A little bit more than an 'ot dog, know what I mean?

Thanks for that player profile Harold - perhaps we should consult you on all our potential recruits.

As the thread is about Austin Buchanan - can you give an insight into his abilities and weaknesses and
do you know of any decent centres to play alongside him ?!?

I reckon you could have applied that description to almost every stand off half of the 70's and 80's - when they were supposed to have had genuine skill.

Austin has a proven try scoring record, not bad for someone as slow as him......... Likewise Wainwright knows his way to the line. Its rarely about flat out pace, it's more about finishing ability and defending kicks.

It was when we played Halifax. Austin had a 20 yard start on Worrincy and he chased him down.
