Workington Town players Andrew Morris and Karl Olstrum have both been charged with offences during their club’s elimination play-off victory over Whitehaven on Sunday September 16.

Morris has been charged with committing a Grade C dangerous throw in the seventh minute of the game; Olstrum has been charged with a Grade A punching offence in the same fixture.

The players are eligible to submit an Early Guilty Plea. They were charged after the incidents were viewed by the RFL Match Review Panel.

Olstrum is Grade A which carries a punishment of No Further Action or 1 match ban. If he takes early guilty plea the ban is reduced by 1 game so he should be clear to play on Sunday.

Morris is Grade C which carries a ban of 2 - 3 games if found guilty.

Luck doesn't come into it. The sentence for a Grade A offence is either NFA or 1 game ban. Under the new rules if you plead guilty early you get a 1 game reduction in the ban. So if he takes early plea then he can't be banned. I know you're from Whitehaven so I'll explain, one minus one equals none.

We had this earlier in the season with Carter getting cited because they said a Haven player had a broken jaw and it turned out he hadn't!!!! What about Varkulis stamping on a Town player should we cite him?

I'm not saying Haven cited our players but, when Carter was cited, it was said that Smith had a broken jaw as well but it turned out it was nothing of the sort and here we are again another broken jaw!!!!

I also was thinking how did the review panel get to view the incidents in order to say charge the players as the DVD wouldn't normally get there until Tuesday morning. How can they decide to charge a player from the refs report, especially when he never sent anyone off for either incident?

Two town players charged and who to you looked the team who were headhunting , illdisciplined and giving cheap shots . For instance a town player held upright in a tackle when a haven player tries to pull his head off??

Both players took an early guilty plea and Olstrum gets NFA but can't use the early guilty plea again for 12 months. Morris gets a 2 match ban which rules him out of both our matches if we make the final.

Can anyone explain why Morris has accepted a 2 game ban? Surely if it was only a max of 3 games it was worth fighting in the hope of a not guilty!?
The race is not always to the swift nor the battle to the strong, but thats the way to bet!
