We are looking to buy an iPad for the wife's business. We are undecided between 16gb or 32gb and there is approx. £100 difference.

Primarily the iPad will be used for :

Approx 1000 - 1500 photos
Excel and Word

Secondary :

A few apps, games and books, and maybe a little internet browsing when travelling. This will be secondary to our laptop, so no need for emails, major net surfing or a large iTunes library.

I know that there is no way of increasing memory once you have bought the thing, but what is recommended memory-wise for what we want to do ?

I'd say with the 16GB you'll be fine, usually it's the larger media such as videos and music that take up a lot of space, and even then the 16GB version should be able to hold it's fare share of both. I'd say save the 100 quid and go for the smaller version

What Amber Avenger said!

Wife has a 16Gb and it's jam packed full of videos, photos and loads of apps for the kids - no issue whatsoever
Now then, it's a race between Sandie....and Fairburn....and the little man is in........yeees he's in.

I, just like those Castleford supporters felt that the ball should have gone to David Plange but he put the bit betwen his teeth...and it was a try

Kevin Ward - best player I have ever seen

The real Mick Gledhill is what you see on here, a Bradford fan ........, but deep down knows that Bradford are just not good enough to challenge the likes of Leeds & St Helens.

Whatever size you go for you'll fill it!

I went 32gb and was suprised how quickly mine filled up, throw on a few ebooks, tv episodes, magazine subscriptions and some apps, which can weigh in at a 1gb a pop then you soon burn through it.

Are iPads' capacities expandable after they're bought? Like some hardware will accept an SD card for a bit of extra memory.

You may guess that I don't have much experience with Apple stuff - the last product of theirs I used was THIS!

Thanks for all the replies all.
As I thought, the photos will be fine as probably wouldn't take more than 1.5gb for 1000-1200, but it will be the app's that will fill it up. Depends on what app's we'll use and the size of them.

Just having a quick look at mine and whilst I've plenty of games at 300mb+ in size, if your not looking at games very few breach the 200mb mark, of mine only a couple of cook books and 3d maps do. Then travel guides are weighing in at around 70 to 100mb and a few gardening apps seem to be around 100mb after that typically most apps seems to be around 20mb or less, although I do have 2gb lost to "other" whatever that maybe when I look in iTunes.
