From reports, a female police officer has been killed and another critically injured in Greater Manchester, in the act of arresting a wanted man in connection with murder. A waste of a life just going about one's job.

Sadly, the second officer has now died.

Sad news and a reminder of the dangers faced for people whose jobs involve dealing with the general public.

The daft thing is that he'll probably be out again in twelve to fifteen years.

In that period, it'll probably cost us half a million quid to keep him.

No one should be sent on a routine call and get shot or blown up by a grenade. Life isn't fair, why should people like this be exempt from injustice?

Because if we say killing is wrong then all killing is wrong.
Because we hold ourselves and our society to higher standards than the gutter that these scum come from.
Because it won't prevent further murders or bring back the victims
Because we might get the wrong person
Because it gives the perpetrator a quick way out

Dont agree, this is a maniac who had already murdered 2 people, then he makes a fake telephone call to lull 2 officers doing their duty and executes the defenceless officers. And then hands himself in,why not earlier before he had executed the girls.Time maniacs like this were taken out of this world

I don't think you are that but I am struggling to find myself concerned whether this piece of filth is thrown down a hole and that's that.

Truly disturbing how someone can have such disregard for humans he has never met.

My own dad murdered a baby born from his second wife and yet was out of jail in 15 years. They should have thrown the key away and left the evil swine to rot. These two women were in their prime, only to be murdered as if it didn't matter. He should never see the outside world again.

Watching George Gently recently, a policeman was murdered. How weird following the events of today!

Locking him up for life with no parole will do exactly that.

He'll probably end up in broadmoor with an x-box,wifi,pool table, access to a gym amongst other benefits, all at the taxpayers expense.Get rid of this scum and others like him.Look at Brady nearly 40 years later and were still providing for this animal

Piece of rope will only cost a few quid.

We are a civilised society, capital punishment is out of the question. Lock him up and throw away the key. Let him rot in jail for the rest of his life.

If he ends up in Broadmoor it will be because he is insane so would be ineligible for execution under all regimes except Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
It seems ironic that the people most keen on following this particular judicial model are the same ones that are quickest to condemn Sharia and Islamic law.

Yeah, lets not bother with a trial either, he's clearly guilty.
