'The Centurion' is the match day magazine of Leigh centurions: -

Production of this week’s Match Day magazine has proved something of a challenge! We didn’t know for certain that we would have a game until last Thursday, or who our opponents are, until Sunday! Not a lot of time to get it all to the publisher by Tuesday!

As a result, we didn’t have time to ask our opposing coach for an interview, and we have not received contributions from Gareth Walker, (League Express) Tony Williams, (Love Rugby League) Director John Roddy, or General Manager Richie Blackmore.

Nevertheless, we have still managed to fill the forty pages, so here’s a preview of a somewhat new-look ‘Centurion’:

CEO TREVOR BARTON looks back on the season, and how far we have come.

Head Coach PAUL ROWLEYalso looks back on the team’s journey and their two most recent games, at Swinton and Featherstone..

DAVE PARKINSON reports on the Keighley and Swinton victories and the Featherstone defeat, updates all his statistics, and takes a look at this evening’s visitors. Dave has also conducted his final interview with an emotional skipper, John Duffy.

MAURICE JONES and WAYNE KEEGAN captured all the action in the Keighley home game and the Swinton ’away’ game. Their excellent photos are dotted about throught the magazine. I’d also like to thank the ANDREW VARLEY Agency for granting me acces to their excellent photo archive of times gone by.

JOHN WILLIAMS updates us on the remaining Junior Centurion birthdays this year.

ALAN EDGE is back in his flat cap, pointing it at SKY, Salford Reds, Bradford Bulls, and Stuart Fielden. He’s had to earn his healthy remuneration package this week, coming up with features on Sean Penkywicz, the Championship Play-offs, the Championship Awards Evening, and the new retail outlet.

Once again, there is the usual squad information, and LISA, Lottery, Commercial, and Touchdown news, and incredibly ‘The Centurion’ is still a snip at just £2.50.
