What's with the trolls and all the doomsday merchants in this thread, for gods sake, wake up or watch another sport you idiots

If the game is played in France, the FFR13 can play it where they bloodywell like and if it's too far away from where a certain 2 here live, stiff shiit.

so you would be happy to travel to say, Darwin to watch Aus v NZ in the only RL international of the year to be played on Australian soil ?

Also in France using the car is very expensive i drove to Lezignan 2 weeks ago and the road tolls from Perpignan were around 17 euros (£ 15.00) return add on petrol at Euros 1.60 nearly now a litre (£ 1.40) it works out at over £ 2.00 a litre in real terms. If you are a french RL fan to drive from Perpignan to Toulouse return now costs around Euros 30.00 in road tolls alone forget speeding there are speed cameras everywhere gendamarie police standing at the tolls checking documents etc even sometimes they check your tickets and can work out if you have been speeding just by the time you entered the motorway.France is really expensive its not the France i knew 15 years ago when i moved there from the UK:(CM

why don't you take the train then?

Yes, it's going off topic a bit but every time I come to the UK, I hire a car and then those speed camera things drive me crazy. They are not law enforecment or road safety measures, they are revenue collectors for the Govt, nothing more.

So you would think when the stadium gets completed, with the support they have then toulouse will finally get into sl.

You are, of course, correct. However, when you are driving from Yorkshire to catch a plane at Heathrow at 4.00 am on an empty motorway, it seems nuts to have to toddle along at 70.m.p.h

if they meet the RFL criteria , yes it will happen otherwise the club & city would not even be talking about ground redevelopment let alone getting Blake Solly & Ralph Rimmer etc coming over to discuss their future plans

Also in France its an on the spot fine and if you do not have the cash on you they will escort you to the nearest cashpoint machine:(((( Also if you are 30/40K over the limit it will be an instant ban on the spot (usually 2 months) i know i got stopped driving from perpignan to canet a few years ago (I was doing 140 in a 110) it was 2 months ban on the spot and around 200 euros fine,it was quite funny as lucky my missus was with me and had her russian license on her so she could drive it was even funnier the gendarm trying to write down the details of a russian license.Back in the old days in and around Perpignan many RL men were in the police and gendarmarie and drink driving was rife in fact i remember off duty ones giving everyone instructions one night in a local bar on which routes to drive home to avoid that nights road controls:)))) one famous dragons ex player (What goes on tour stays on tour:) once crashed his car into a ditch after getting totally wasted the police turned up saw who he was and just took him home in their car that was that matter closed:))) Can you imagine that happening back in the UK never in a thousand years.CM

That's horrendous. The train sounds a better deal. I was trying to work out how to get from Bristol to Avignon in the WC next year and the planes don't do it but I can take the TGV from Paris and get there. Seems crazy, dosn't it.

Luc Dayan is hoping to attract a 20,000(!) crowd to the fixture, apparently on the basis that Wales once had a coal mining industry too!

But surely he's making it up because Canetman was sitting next to him when he came up with the figure.

Some of you on here need a large reality check, if they were charging (lets say Euros 10.00) for this match the crowd would be 3000 maximum.Hats of to Luke Dyan if they get 20000 however as for regular RL fans in france it totals no-more than around 12000 (+ the dragons) although as someone else has pointed out on this forum a large part of the dragons home crowd are french RL fans who would be from the original 12000 that i quoted.CM

Prrhaps it will be like the crowd in "Escape to Victory" - the best rendition of La Marseillaise I've ever heard

even with a freebie ticket i've decided financial restraints will not allow two nights in a hotel - that, along with the petrol/toll plus eating charges etc turns what should be a nice saturady spent supporting the lads into a non-event

train logistics (3 changes over 12 hours) and taxi fares add up to about the same outlay and my pockets aren't deep enough to cover the costs

thanks Larrat & Dayan for putting me off french RL - I couldn't even be bothered to drive to Toulouse on saturday - I thought the idea was attract fans to the greatest game ?

i'm entitled to whinge if I feel hard done by simple as that - a forum is a place to give opinion and exchange ideas, I try to do this without causing offence to others by name-calling etc

i'm not anti 'spreading the word' about our great game to any part of France or anywhere else for that matter - RL is even played in Norfolk nowadays something which would have been unthinkable in the days when I drove regularly from Gt Yarmouth to Knowlsley and other far flung places in the 70s/80s

a realistic scenario for me would be for the FFR to play their next Magic Weekend plus a Catalans game in Lens or wherever over two days with freebie tickets to all - this would, in my opinion with the right kind of publicity raise the profile of the game as a precursor to any future national league - Catalans already play at 'nearby' grounds in heartland or Catalonian areas ( Barcelona, Beziers, Montpellier etc) which seems a waste of time to me as all the club is doing is making the current fanbase travel further to support their team so why not try such a venture in non RL areas ?
