Well, why not?
"Journalists are meant to be neutral, for God's sake." - Stephen 'Wiggy' Jones

"Perhaps it would be better that future criticism of sports be made on the narrow basis of what is being discussed, without reference to other sports, unless those sports offer a solution to the problem in hand." - Brian 'Pigface' Moore

"What happens in rugby union? A player takes the ball, moves forward a little and gets tackled. A whole load of players then roll about on the ground. Pheep! The referee gives a penalty." - Simon Barnes

Not much to quarrel with there. I remember John Lee Hooker appearing at the Peel in Leeds in the mid sixties.
Buddy Holly is missing and I think he's very underated as a guitarist. Brian Jones isn't here either.
There was a bee-bop guitarist who played with Bird and Dizzy called Charlie Christian who was reallly something too.

they are not there because they are not amongst my favourites. I don't enjoy Hollyu's and Jones' playing as much as I enjoy the others: the thread is about our favourite dead guitarists

I missed rory off first time around .

I always remember an interview with Hendrix (some 60's pop show) where he was asked 'what's it like being the worlds greatest guitarist?' to which he answered 'why are you asking me, you should be asking that to a guy named Rory Gallagher'.

Push away the thief trying to steal your gift, the fighter is the one whose feet are swift.
