Charlie Watts(the best rock drummer ever)
I remember seeing the Stones at Roundhay Park in 1982 supported by, amongst others, the J Geils Band, whose drummer had what must have been a 12 piece double bass drum kit - which he was all over. When Charlie came on he had a 4 piece and blew the other fella of the stage!

I'd go along with Gene Krupa, but add Chick Webb. Webb led a black orchestra in the thirties and used the same arranger (Fletcher Henderson) as the the Goodman band (with Krupa) in a challenge of the bands at the Savoy ballroom, Webb is said to have blown the Goodman band away. I got this from Ken Burns's documentary "Jazz" which was broadcast recently on PBS which we get with our Virgin deal. I'd recomend PBS to anyone who likes serious documentaries. There's a series on currently about American Jews which I find fascinating.
But if you like swing, put "Stompin at the Savoy" into your music program and listen to the two versions.
Other drummers? Dunno really. Mickey Dolenz?

With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

I went to see Slayer on the Reign in Blood tour. They were without doubt the tightest band I've ever seen and Lombardo was like a machine.
