which league will coventry play in in the meantime. tier 3, tier 4 or some thing else.

Coventry Bears are recommended for NCL acceptance so subject to the club vote will play there. If not successful there the RFL are planning at least one additional tier 3 league based on the midlands and adjacent areas.

How do you know the Management will? Do you speak for them all?

Personally I wouldn't like to accept a club for one year, and all clubs should apply for NCL membership with the view of being in there for the long haul.

The management have spoken for themselves in their recommendations. I don't think clubs should be barred due to aspirations as that is quite backward thinking. Though obviously Coventry Bears should only be admitted if committed to take the season seriously (which I think is in the club's best interest as Championship 1 in 2014 is only a done deal if the club is up to scratch).

As to what happens with many of these issues we'll find out more after Monday

As long as everyone meets criteria then surely more teams is better? Quality and quantity is the ideal.

That wouldn't be allowed, as their seconds would/could be professional players and, therefore, not allowed to play in the NCL. As such the NCL couldn't allow movement between their "first" team and second team.

The seconds would probably have to play in a tier 3 south league.

Feel sorry for clubs with history like Oldham and Rochdale .how on gods earth are they going to survive ? Cant see them lasting long with this proposed set up .

I also feel sorry for the successful expansion clubs like Skolars who've gone from a proper league to a bit of a novelty one.

the NCL use to be able to say they had the best teams which was backed up by two NCL teams competing for the best amateur cup in the world the national cup final,
now in recent years they cant even get a club to the final let alon win it,

The national cup is no longer the best cup though is it to be fair. The NCL teams couldnt win it when it was winter based simple reason being that there are bloody good sides out there such as Queens but they arent good clubs

Tradition and heritage are no longer buzz words in the game of rugby league , the game has been transformed where at the top there is no promotion and relegation and winning the league means little or nothing.

And all the Tiers below are being watered down , even the Ncl now pays more importance to the play offs and winning the league is secondary.

the Natianal cup is the only one every team in the country can enter and be measured against simply inventing another cup that some teams can not enter doesnt disvalue the the real prize, the national cup

Why would the clubs start and place more importance to the play offs than winning the title? I know the CMS Yorkshire league used to have a top 4 (Had to fulfil all your league fixtures to enter) which was really a separate competition and I suppose a reward for a seasons work & the Pennine Committee don't run a top four, they recognise the team who finishes at the top of the divisions as champions.

Only the Premier division of the NCL have play off's the other division winners are the champions. And rightly so IMO.
