Lock Lane 24-22 St Judes. Lane made hard work of it but the win keeps them in the mix, they need a few results to go for 'em but still in with a chance of promotion.

Good win for Stanley again against Egremont today. Egremont are one of the best teams I have seen this season - were they at full strength? Makes next weeks game at Eccles interesting. Stanley need to win to keep up their hopes of avoiding relegation. Eccles are ssured of finishing at least where they are now. Eccles are far from full strength but still grinding out results and won't want to lose at home.

Rochdale Mayfield 96 Castleford Panthers 10

Panthers went with 12 men which included youth players from what I was told today.

Best team Stanley have put out this season Rooster, if we have that same team for next 3 games we have a chance of staying up... Great game forwards knocked ten bells out of each other... Good luck to Egremont in their final..

West Hull 16 v 18 Leigh Miners

Leigh Miners continued their good run of form with an 18-16 victory away at West Hull, knocking the home side off top spot after recording only their second victory at Wests in the last twenty years. In what was an entertaining game throughout on a warm afternoon in Hull the game was spoiled at times by a whistle happy referee who was poor for both sides. Miners started the stronger of the two sides and had plenty of ball down at the right end of the field but with the Wests defending their line well Miners were unable to find a way through. After soaking up the pressure on their own line it was West Hull's to do the attacking and after a spell on the Miners line they scored out on the right after fifteen minutes to give them a 4-0 lead. Miners responded five minutes later to tie the scores up at 4-4 with a try out on the left from centre Ross Bradley. Soon after Miners found themselves in front when Martin Lewis got on the end of a Jonny Youds kick to score in the corner, Youds converting off the right touchline to give Miners a 10-4 lead. Miners scored their third try when Liam Coleman broke the line to send in Lee Gittins to score just short of the half hour mark to give the score 14-4. The home side scored their second try just before the break to give the half time score 14-10 in favour of Miners.

The second half was a tough encounter with both sides playing good attacking rugby, Wests found themselves down to twelve men for ten minutes when Mark Hewitt was sin binned for a high tackle and Miners took full advantage of the extra man when winger Jonny Carroll went over in the right corner to increase the lead to eight points at 18-10. The home side scored their third try with just over ten minutes remaining to set up a tense end to the game, Miners made sure it was them who went back to Twist Lane with the two points with some good attacking sets in the closing minutes backed up with strong defence to pick up two more important competition points to keep them well in the mix for a top six finish.

Next week Miners take on Egremont Rangers in the Conference Challenge Cup final at Warrington Wolves Halliwell Jones Stadium, Kick off 11-30am.

MINERS TEAM = J. Youds, S. Pendlebury, R. Bradley, M. Lewis, J. Carroll, L. Coleman, S. O' Brien, S. Marsh, T. Farrimond, D. Kay, A. Thomason, L. Gittins, D. Rowlands, SUBS = J. Ward, D. Jones, D. Jackson, K. Howells

MOM = Jonny Youds

I went to watch their home game against Hunslet Warriors, they looked a good side that day for 60 minutes then they lost their way a little and the Warriors made them pay for any little mistake.
