Protect against what? Somebody making a noise?

Completley unnacceptable. You shouldn't own a dog with that attitude, particularly a breed like that.

I agree better to have it destroyed, if you want a pet get a small or medium sized dog, or is it some sort of Penis extension!

Had it been a child making the growling noise, who didn't know any better, what would your reaction have been then?

Dogs, by law, are always required to be under control by their owners. From your own admission it sounds like your dog is too big for you to handle safely.

I reckon you should maybe look for a smaller breed.

Will have another gander at this thread later, it's got the makings of good entertainment.
On 13/2/2013, Hull City's owners the Allams, released a statement in their position as the owners of the KC Stadium Management Committee. One line in this statement read as follows....

"The SMC's principal responsibility is to remain neutral"

It's okay, the dog's been given a treat so it knows not to do it again.

Haha, just took Roxy our six month old Rottie out for a walk, a passing knobhead made a growling noise at her and she went for him big time!!!! Nearly dragged me off my feet. He said (in a shaky scared voice) "You want to get that thing under control"

I told him to ###### off and that if he went round growling at dogs thats what's gonna happen.

Good girl Roxy!! she got a special Roxy treat when we got home.

Phil a friend of mine is a magistrate and we were only discussing something similar to this.In a court of law even though he growled at your dog it is you that are fully responsible for your dogs actions if it attacked someone or something. You could be prosecuted.

I'm still nervous what the "special Roxy treat" was, that sounds so wrong. *shudders*

I, just like those Castleford supporters felt that the ball should have gone to David Plange but he put the bit betwen his teeth...and it was a try

The real Mick Gledhill is what you see on here, a Bradford fan ........, but deep down knows that Bradford are just not good enough to challenge the likes of Leeds & St Helens.

It's not bad behaviour for a dog to protect itself and its owner.

But it is bad behaviour if the owner can't protect the public from the dog, regardless of the provocation

What attitude? A protective one?......I'm not one for encouraging dangerous dogs (I hate them and am ###### scared of them) however, you can't blame the dog for what happened in this situation, it sounds like a fairly natural reaction to an antogonist. A smaller dog, more socially acceptable breed could have done the same if some 2@ came up to it in a threatening manner

but she didn't have a go at another dog, she had a go at an individual who was acting in a threatening manner towards her and her owner. she is very friendly towards other dogs

what if a child had made a growling noise at your dog?

You have a responsibility to keep your dog under control. Somebody making a noise at it is a poor excuse for losing control of such a powerful animal.

It's wrong of people to tease and provoke dogs, but you should have dealt with it not your dog.

Hopefully the parents would teach their kids not to be so chuffing stupid....I teach my kids to respect (and be very wary of) dogs...perhaps that's my own fear coming to the fore there though

I wonder how long it was after this incident it popped into the OP's head, "Oh, the guys on Total RL are going to bloody love this!". For sheer audacity, that's quite impressive

You can't always legislate for what young kids might do, they do very silly things sometimes. As I said earlier, its exactly the sort of thing an autistic child might do, hardly reason to let a big dog loose.

Mine's not, I've currently got some body builders protein food. Presumably someone has a link for home head shaving and tattoo kits.

Problem with animals is they are unpredictable - taunting them or making a wrong move can cause generally placid things to react aggresively :-
