5 teams had their bid rejected from NCL3 and 4 bids from outside were rejected (Kippax's was going to be recommended to be accepted had they fulfilled their fixtures). St Albans never applied otherwise they'd have stood a good chance of acceptance IMO. Kippax, Bramley and Hornets scratched fixtures anyway but hopefully can find a lower division to join. Wizards can join NW Men's premier, Bristol and St Albans can join the tier 3 midlands league as can some ambitious tier 4 sides like Northampton (who applied for NCL) and some reserve team of semi pro clubs. Coventry and Nottingham can choose between there and NCL.

With respect to the other teams, it's a shame for Wizards also, haven't they been there since the start of that league? When apparently not many clubs were interested in that league.

Yeah I agree. Not sure what can be done though as there aren't enough teams to run a league like this year's NCL. I guess you could ask if the midlands can stretch and extra 20-30 miles to Warrington? But NW Men's premier may well be the same standard with less travelling. If you look at it as a stop gap before you set up juniors and join the NCL it might be not so bad albeit a shame?

Bramley may struggle to build a strong youth/junior section due to their locality.
Milford. Stanningley and Dudley Hill are all within 4 miles of each other and all three have junior and youth sections.

Warrington should be able to start building again as did Woolston when they were in the NCL.

Correct. The NCL committee only visit clubs deemed worthy of consideration (I expect Kippax, Bristol, Northampton and if they didn't withdraw their bid Rylands got a visit). A phone call or letter explaining why they weren't considered would have been a nice gesture though.

I don't think we were visited, or at least if we were they didn't tell us. I don't think they ever seriously considered our application. I'd like to be wrong because then we could get a detailed breakdown of what we need to improve (aside from moving the city of Bristol nearer the North of England)

Expansion, the bigger picture and the RFL has a plan that it dare not openly tell (Maybe because they are not to sure what that plan is yet)

The RFL have been quite open about what their plan is - they want strong "tier 3" clubs all over the country. They have said this on numerous occasions - in fact David Gent was quoted saying that in RL World before the start of this season.

Don't read the RL World, to bias towards summer and definately against BARLA and maybe they do have a plan and I should have said they don't know how to execute it.

Wonder if your early form counted against you? But think there must be more to it than that.

The form on the field seems to be secondary at the moment & WCE could be nearer to the mark with geography, I travel all over the country with my work and I've never had a problem yet going into the Bristol area but that could be because of the times I choose to travel.

Del Capo my Comment re Farsley was in reply to Bowes post & past applications for entry to CC1 not recently
RL decided FC didn't meet their standards but don't believe they ever explained how.

I trust NCL will be more explicit and helpful when they communicate back on reasons for refusal to admit to NCL. of course this matter is not for Bowes to air his views as they are just that often il informed and biased. i fully accept NCL runs its own course and can come to any decision it's members wish. my complaint is on the process and pre disclosure of decision to all before the failed clubs were advised.

Been there, mixed concrete for several clubs built the posts cut the grass and played for and paid the wages of 2 professional clubs in a previous life. That said The links to Stanningley were symbiotic to both parties and therefore why the need to replicate existing ground and facilities?
The 5 figure sum sum paid in rent annually will leave them a big black hole in their finances if the board decide on closure.

Off to my Pennine league side tomorrow and very very much happier days in winter.

similar situation with the league express, especially the phil hodgson section, but the opposite. totally against the summer and would rather rugby league be played solely in yorkshire in winter. unless hes talking about a summer team down south, in which hes president, and then it does matter. he talks utter drivel the majority of time and is a reason i stopped reading his column. bias you say!

The RFL have relaxed ground criteria to a level Farsley Celtic would meet. The post code test seems official now though as Warrington Wizards and Rochdale Mayfield can testify.

There is no bias in my assessment of Bramley's standing with regard to NCL criteria.

For Championship 1. They only need 200 seats and 200 lux floodlights

I suppose someone has to bang the BARLA drum even if it's just one man against the rest.
