As usual, the gang members are described by the Police and the local press as "Asian".
Yeah, and I'm sure that they were entirely composed of ethnic Hindus, Sikhs, and Buddhists.

As long as nobody's hurt, there isn't an accident, and nobody gets sent to prison, it doesn't matter.
Congratulations.

The thing is, it's not just newspapers exaggerating things, it really is getting bad. Most of these areas where the shootings go on, were never like that say, in the 80's. They were a bit rough and ready some of them but not that bad. I used to knock about in some right dives in Bradford and dodgy areas. Yes, there was always violence and you copped a beating occasionally or whatever, but there was absolutely no guns on the streets. Take Lumb Lane. You could go to the Perseverance pub for some dope or whatever and there were a few old pros hanging around, yet you never felt threatened, really. We used to knock off school and play pool in some cafes that are now just too dodgy and I wouldn't dare go in now, never mind when I was 15. I come from one of the roughest council estates and never saw any drugs growing up -ever. We even thought dope was called 'marry-jooarna' - true. Some guys who thought they were Northern soul boys possibly had some speed or something but this wasn't done on your doorstep so to speak.
The second shooting instance in this post was in an area that has always been, for want of a better word, a gypo area (scrap metal dealers etc). You simply wouldn't tangle with those guys unless you were a)insane or b ) insane. Either way, there was no guns. A few dealer boots flying in perhaps. It's definitely far far worse.

Apologies, I've mislead you.Old Frightful's attitude, whilst I assume had a touch of irony about it, just about sums up what most people think.
