Maybe so but you were still in Bradford. I believe that local papers in Leeds used "soccer" back then. They certainly didn't in Harrogate.

I aren't trying to imply that everyone called it soccer because generally most people said footy. But if someone said 'lets have a game of soccer' no one would throw their hands up and demand they call it football or something, it was common - and we were football fans. If there was some sort of stigma in calling it soccer I'm sure we wouldn't have used the term.
I also used to get books like 'Topical Times Soccer annual 1974' .....it certainly wasn't just a regional term.

No, it wasn't. I also got those albums but I wouldn't have said "soccer".

In my case I could have chosen several counties on family grounds, but Fermanagh it is. It's where at least one strain of my mother's family is from, and it's also a lovely place (mainly). Sad to say I do know people who have latched on to more successful counties on the basis of tenuous family connections. Glory hunters are everywhere.

No choice for me. My mum's line came from Newry, my dad's from Dromara - so I'm stuck with Down for better or for worse.

Not sure what you mean here.

Truth to say, an All Ireland winners medal is still highly valued.

Man of the Match in the all Ireland final, not sure which sport thou.

Oldham RL, Torquay United, Ottawa Senators, Fermanagh ... my God you're right. For £5 I will not support your team, cos if I do, they'll never win squat.

I think you should start supporting Chelsea, Barcelona or some team that regularly wins trophies to test this theory.

Please support Warrington this weekend at the Grand Final.

In bad news for Wire fans, I would never support Leeds. As for Chelsea or Barcelona, top class football teams can all go boil their heads.

Sorry. You can't expect originality on only one glass of red.
