Sorry in advance if that has already been raised:
Was flicking through a colleagues copy of the Forty-20 magazine and there was a feature on Gary Broadbent and his time at Dewsbury. From reading his quotes he is clearly diappointed at the way he was overlooked for the Head Coach job after asking the club if they had already guarented the job to someone else before accepting the caretaker role.
He states that no one came to see him coach the players or view the tapes.
Don't get me wrong, I think Morrison getting the job is exciting and his signings so far are positive but feel for the guy if he thought he wasn't given a fair crack at getting the job.

Having read the article, my personal opinion on the comments is this:
Paul was asked by the club to do a job, which he did, and was thanked for, but surely the interview process is exclusive of the interim period? If the interim period was a part of the interview process then that would have given Paul a big advantage over the other candidates and, in my opinion, wouldn't have been conducive to the appointment of the best man for the job in the long term.
It appears that Paul started from the same line as everyone else once the interview process started, and the club decided to appoint a different applicant.

If reality works that way Tom. In any industry, internal applicants have an advantage and I'm just surprised that if you were to interview the guy anyway, why not take the opportunity to see him in the environment you are looking to recruit to? Can't help not to! This is why many professional sports clubs employ from within their own back room staff, because they have the advantage of knowing the capability of the individual prior to the interview.
Im not saying the club picked the wrong guy, far far from it, 100% behind Glen. I just find it odd why no one would take the opportunity and advantage to see him in his environment and see how the player react to him.

I think there's some confused thinking here.
The club had a commitment to finish the season with an accredited coach and PB fulfilled that role with credit.
Having said that, there was no commitment on the clubs part to make his tenure permenant, and despite all the misplaced trolling by coolie et all the club carried out a rigorous interview process and selected GM as the man.

Paul Broadbent took an interim coach job for 3 games it's not like he'd been with the club for years. If he feels aggrieved that's up to him, but Mark Sawyer was quite open about the process. 3 games does not really make you an internal appointment.
