The people making allegations are not all star struck teenage girls either. Its not as though one or two girls have made accusations is it? You simply don't get all these accusations for nothing.

As per my earlier post, the police seem to have substantive evidence to have said what they said and thats good enough for me, and the weight of accusations is growing hourly

Kangaroo court? Yes. Some of the 'witnesses' Ive seen on Look North I wouldnt trust to catch the right bus, never mind testify in court, were Mr Savile still alive. The whole bandwaggon has an unpleasant witch hunt about it, which makes me uncomfortable about the way its being reported given the two miscarriage cases I cited earlier. Im also uncomfortable that the images we see on the news are of someone who was old and eccentric, factors which seem to be key determinants in him being guilty as a dirty old man (when the offences would have been when he was a dirty young man)

That said, the dead cant sue and cant be liabled or slandered so its open slavver, which the print media especially is taking full advantage of

If the rape accusations are indeed true people will have been injured and scarred, no need for such a lurid freakshow with flimsy stories trumped up into 'evidence', this is serious stuff, not a pantomime

Given the unquestionable number of victims of this, 100% of whom havnt spoken out during the last 50 years, the only considered, measured, discreet and sober actions since this story blew up appear to have been taken by Mr Saviles family

It's facile, lazy and predictable that some describe this matter as a "witch hunt." It is no such thing.

The investigations and outcomes are unlikely to result in much action through criminal prosecutions of any adult involved and associated with Saville in the alleged activities. There could be civil proceedings against any organisations that individuals who have suffered harm think have not fulfilled their duty of care towards them. If that is the case, this could go on for a long, long time...........

The Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky has just been sentenced to 30 to 60 years and before being sentenced he was allowed to speak and he was in complete denial even though his victims gave their account to his face.This case is as much in the media over here as the Savile case is in Britian..Even his wife defended him and protested his innocence ,she called their foster son a liyar when he spoke out after his trial, about being molested after his adoption.This case has many similarities to the Savile case,both supposedly helping sick and poor kids.I watched that Louis Theroux show last night and it was interesting to hear Savile say the Duchess is in heaven,but I Wont get there

victims have spoken out and those that haven't? I'm very close to someone who was sexually abused as a child, it took her 15 years of marriage and a bottle of whiskey before she could tell me. some victims are so traumatised they've literally blocked it out of their minds

What do you mean 'witnesses'? the rather doddery old woman? Yeah, when something happened 30/40 years ago, perhaps every single second isn't instantly brought to mind..so what? If I saw some weird kant groping a brain damaged person, I might struggle to joke about it or want to remember it at all. Is everyone making it up? You argue as thought it were some random guy picked off the street with no evidence other than hearsay. There was plenty of hearsay for a long time, which many people including me adopted a 'give him a chance' attitude to. The evidence is now clearly overwhelming against him.



Freddie Starr is ok though, he has a lawyer that will tear this woman to pieces. He hasn't even been on TV with Saville or Glitter, ask anyone.

These accusations start well before Saville was at the BBC. Whilst they have questions to answer, they are not to blame for his activities, he is. And whilst I have no time for 'ambulance chasers' (unless I slip on the floor at work) they can hardly be blamed for this whole sordid carry on.

I felt like mentioning the PPI effect before. Looks like the BBC and the hospital trusts are going to have a lot of lawyers wanting to chat. The whole thing has been handled like a kids play party. As much as the victims are now coming out they're being paraded on the TV and radio when they couldn't even tell their friends and family last week. What do you mean, 'deflecting all the blame onto Jimmy'? He isn't just some passer by or some sort of victim in this, he is 100% responsible for his actions. And how on earth do you know people haven't told their friends and family? A lot of people are saying they DID tell people but were dismissed because 'Jimmy wouldn't do that'. These people being paraded, as you put it, are victims of a horrible sexual predator. If you tend to not believe them or would rather criticise the presentation of the case, that's up to you.

And so what if people get some compo out of it? He made a few milion by virtue of abusing his position, so why should he have benefited from his ways?

Did you watch Question Time last night? The BBC were very much in the dock; the main target for much of the Saville discussion was about them and not him. Wrong in my opinion, like you and others have said his actions went well beyond the confines of when he was at the BBC.

I did and yes you are right, the beeb did seem to cop more flak than Saville himself.

However the BBC have a duty of care to all visitors to it's facilities as well as their employee's, and as much as the hospital patients, nurses and managers and knew about Jimmy, it's likely so did BBC executives.

Absolutely and if blind eyes were turned then that needs addressing and arses kicked. But that only applies in their buildings, most of this went on outside their walls

The BBC didn't run dancehalls in Leeds in the 1950's did they? Nor can they reasonably be expected to be held responsible for what goes on elsewhere. The person at fault here, is Saville.
