It's the same sort of service provider. In fairness I know a couple (though in decreasing numbers) of contractors like that. The bit that annoys me is that IR35 (and its other clauses as well as subsitution) is as likely to trap a 'real' freelancer, who generally doesn't spend more than a year at an organisation as it is a genuine 'disguised employee'.
Personally I find its given me freedom to travel and get experience in industries normally I wouldn't go near. Knowing there is a definite end date to a contract can make the rough bits better.
