widnes have announced the permanent signings of joe mellor and stefan marsh from wigan along with extended deals for ben davies and alex gerrard. great to see the club continuing to sign younger british players rather than over the hill antipodeans, now go and get paul mcshane denis..................

I think Mellor could turn into a gem. I can see why Wigan let him go - with Powell being more in the Deacon mold and Williams and Hampshire to bring through - but for that embarrassment of riches and his bad leg injury he would be staying with us. Good luck to him - I have always enjoyed watching him play.
