I can understand why certain men get tattoos ... historical significance, cultural norm, bravado etc ... though I would never have one myself.
But why do women get tattooed?
I think, without exception, they look horrible on a woman (tattoos not men !!! ).
Any thoughts?

I have none. My sister has three. Each to their own.

I have never seen a tattoo on a woman and thought it looked nice. I think they look horrible on women.

My son has tattoos. I don't think that my daughter has ... though she is going out with the singer in a punk band, and he has.

I'm with most of you lot, would never get one myself and don't find them particularly attractive on girls either.
That said some of the really old style maori ones are really impressive on the right person (ie, not me!).

Never been interested in tattoos nor our Stu. Some people are covered in them from head to toe. One lad that I used to work with spent £1,000 on a tattoo yet still complained of being skint all the time!

Those sleeve tattoos strike me as a really bad idea. They look horrendous now but at least they are of the time. When they go out of fashion and people start to regret them more and more they'll become as laughable as the tattoo on the base of a girls back

For some unknown reason I absolutely love those tiny nose studs on a good looking woman, but tattoos just seem a bit too chavvy somehow.
