Thank god he didnt sign for Halifax his hometown team! Sadly always injured and never been the same since he got smashed by Willy Mason. I am not sure a 2 year deal is a good one. Maybe pay as you play for a year with an option of a better deal for the 2nd year. He has lost the fear and respect many had for him and would have thought Huddersfield could have got somebody better and younger with Davy and his dosh.

######, he was playing as well as ever until getting injured again, Mason got a lucky shot in, I believe the loss of his mother was more of a factor to the slump in his form than a cheap punch.

Good luck to the guy, he still has plenty to offer.

He was a world class prop back in 2005,no doubting that,but apart from 1 season at wigan in 2010 he's been at best average

When you think about the previous two years, are Huddersfield signing a crock or a player who has avoided the physical punishment of RL for a couple of years? For me it is the latter, Fielden strikes me as a total professional who will have maintained his fitness despite the injuries.

Not only that, he will add some much needed 'grunt' to Huddersfield's front row, which has arguably been their achilles, this past season.

I think its a good move for Fielden and a good one for the Giants, if he stays injury free he can do a good job for them. 33 isn't old for a prop.

1. There was a rumour he would be signing for Fax. I doubt he would have been cheap for a SL club let alone Championship club. It would be a huge risk for any club to sign Fielden, given that he has had some bad injuries recently and he is at 33 going to take longer to recover. His recent record is not great. I would have thought a pay as you play deal for atleast one year would be more sensible with an option of a better deal on year 2.
2. He has hardly played much this past 18-24 months. Thats a long time out and mentally and physically has to not just get up to speed but get used to how Huddersfield play etc. That could take time and if he picks up another injury then he could easily be a burden depending on how much he gets payed to the Giants
3 & 4. He WAS probably the best prop in the world at one stage but he got battered by Mason and then think he lost to Radford in a boxing match plus the loss of his mother. He lost the intimidation and fear he once commanded. He was an enforcer who damaged opponents. His confidence went a bit and probably mentally wasnt where he should have been which is understandable.Add to the fact he has not played much due to injury he is not the same person of maybe 5 or 6 years ago. Maybe he can get some of that back maybe not. But it is a risk of a signing if he is on good money.
5 Huddersfield have a money man and they have brought over some quality players from Australia before. I am sure they could have brought somebody younger and somebody who has played a lot more than Fielden in a way higher standard comp. As said they have done it before. But Anderson and Fielden are mates from playing at Bradford. Maybe Anderson is helping a friend out and hoping he can help him having played in the same position

Was great for wigan, If he can stay fit I reckon he can be just as good for Hudds. Really hope he serves them well. The only positive for wigan is the space he'll free up in the cap. I can see Stu and Crabtree making the Giants look dangerous when they're both on form, which will only make the kicking game even better. Good luck to him.

I believe his influence will be just as great off the field as on it. If he has the same influence on the club as a whole as Brett Hodgson in his MOS year with the Giants I'll be more than happy. He's already been pencilled in to work with the talented younger lads we have at the club. His 'winner' experience will be invaluable.

Not being pedantic at all,1 poster LRL gave negatives comments regarding Stuart and his signing,truth is his later post spells out the problems with his signings,while we all wish Stuart the best in the future and a return to the form he had at Bradford,those days are probably long gone.
Theres a lot of ifs and buts in this signing,if he can rediscover his earlier years form,if he can get fit,stay injury free,but he is a mate of Paul Anderson so he'll know him well etc,etc.
As for TBC statement that its his (belief) that he'll be a great influence off the field as on, maybe hope should replace belief,i presume he was signed to perform on the pitch.And his winning experiences were mainly at Bradford many years ago.

So he lost to his good friend in a charity boxing match. What on earth has that got to do with being a great prop forward.

At that time, a twelve-stone Joe Calzaghe would have battered most prop forwards in a boxing match but would be the first to say he'd be absolutely useless as a Superleague prop.
