hock & thaiday are completely different players

thaiday & westwood...do pretty much the same thing

hock would be our equivalent of SBW

Is that in terms of wanting to play for a little bit and then going off and throw a few punches?

My mistake I meant Williams. He obviously doesn't have the size of him, but could be used similiarly to punch holes in the oppositions defence when they're tiring like Williams does down the edges as both are quicker than people think.

Williams is a far better player than Hock though, SBW at the top of his game was in the top 3 forwards in the world.
Looks like Willams is crocked and his Roosters deal could be in trouble.

Would be good to see Hock in the NRL, just not at Parramatta.

No longer a rumour. I'd like to see him at wigan for a little while longer, but he could be a success over in the NRL.

If Hock goes its probably best for both parties, he's 29 and would benefit from a change of scenery given his history and the declining standards of SL. Wigan on the other hand can give more opportunities to emerging youngsters such as Hughes and Lloyd that have bags of potential. Given the number and caliber of departures in the off season, it is likely that Wigan are heading for a transition phase for a year or two (maybe more, if / when Sam leaves) so I can't blame Hock for not sticking around.

Daniel Smith - 19 yo prop from Leeds Rhinos is going to Wynnum Manly, Qld Cup.

Good player, I think he would've been a good pickup for any Toyota Cup team.

So in 2014, we could have nearly a full England team full of NRL players that looks like:

1. Sam Tomkins (forever rumoured)
2. Tom Briscoe (apparently off next year)
3. Jack Reed - Brisbane Broncos
4.
5.
6. Gareth Widdop - Melbourne Storm
7. Rangi Chase (won't be able to get a visa after next year)
8. Luke Burgess - South Sydney Rabbitohs
9. Scott Moore - NQ Cowboys
10. James Graham - Canterbury Bulldogs
11. Gareth Hock (Parra rumoured)
12. Sam Burgess - South Sydney Rabbitohs
13. Chris Heighington - Cronulla Sharks

14. George Burgess - South Sydney Rabbitohs
15. Tom Burgess - South Sydney Rabbitohs
16. Matty Russell - Gold Coast Titans
17.

An English Exiles game in Australia could be a good trial for the boys.
At least if we want mid-season internationals, we won't have to send many players over!

Where does this "contracts don't mean anything" come from? Of course they do!
Hock is on a five year contract. If Parramatta want him to effectively break his contract they will have to pay compensation to Wigan. Rumoured to be around £200k.
If Hock did not have a contract and was pay as you play then Wigan would not get a penny.
Like wise if he was OOC at some point, Wigan would not get a fee.
Only because Hock has a contract will Wigan get a fee. You bet contracts are meaningful.
£240k for Joel T and perhaps £200k for Hock. £440k is meaningful money in anyone's books!

not a bad idea that actually....

with the number of englishmen in the NRL growing by the year at the very least i reckon we should have a "team england camp" set up down under that would get together during the season.... with a "team england" liaison officer.....someone like a mal reilly
