Egremont Rangers 50 - 6 Stanningley

Took a while for Egremont to get into gear with a depleted squad and with Stanningley coming out of the blocks quickly. After ten minutes Egremonts pack found their feet and dominated play for the rest of the game.

Thatto 36-12 pats decent derby game in tough conditions at times, at boiling point a few times but expected in a derby. The little 20 for pats being sent about ten mins to go for a high shot on the thatto 1. Think he jumped about 6 ft to hit him!! Good game to watch to be fair. Fair play to the pats lads playin after jumpin off the plane from Canada.

Myton Warriors 19 v 10 Leigh Miners

Leigh Miners ten match winning run was ended on Saturday afternoon when they went down 19-10 away at league leaders Myton Warriors, defeat drops Miners back down to sixth in the table leaving them needing one win from their last two matches to guarantee themselves a playoff spot, after Saturday's victory Myton now have their destiny in their own hands knowing that by winning at champions Thatto Heath on Saturday would see them crowned Minor Premiers.

It was a game played in front of a healthy crowd on a warm day in Hull and from the off you could tell it was going to be a tight affair with both teams knowing what victory would do for them in their quest of finishing top. Miners drew first blood after about ten minutes when hooker Danny Jones burrowed his way over under the sticks, Josh Ward converting to give Miners a 6-0 lead. The score stayed like that until just before the break, both sides having chances in the long spell of no points being scored, only to be denied by strong enthusiastic defences. Myton drew level just before the break with a try at the side of the posts to give the half time score 6-6.

Myton took the lead five minutes after the restart with a converted try and that was followed by a drop goal to go 13-6 in front. The home side then had two men sent to the sin bin within a couple of minutes of each other, both of which should have been warnings instead of ten minutes in the bin but with the officials being poor for both teams throughout Myton found themselves down to eleven men. With Miners playing with the two extra men they had the perfect chance to take control of the game but by playing dumb rugby they failed to get any points on the board, it was Myton who scored next out on the left just before they were due to return to a full thirteen to increase their lead to 17-6. A penalty goal with fifteen minutes to go opened up a thirteen point gap at 19-6 to leave Miners needing to score three times. Winger Jonny Carroll pulled a try back in the final ten minutes but thats as good as it got for Miners as Myton secured a 19-10 victory to keep them at the top of the table.

Miners are away to Wigan St Pats on Wednesday, Kick off at 8pm at Clarington Park.
