Musicians that get involved with political issues.

Any celebrity that speaks on any issue. I also include in this - though not directly related to the thread - TV presenters who are knowledgeable enough about one area but because they are considered 'talent' by producers end up fronting scripted programmes about other things and becoming a spokesman for that too. A sort of, "Oh you know about animals and sound posh, perhaps you'd like to talk to us about art in a non threatening way for a bit ..."

Chris Martin. I could kick him in the nuts all day long and never get tired.
Cheer up, RL is actually rather good

Totally agree, plus-

RnB that has none of either
Tough guy rappers who sing about money, murder, bitches etc.
Musos who value the technicalities above the feel and soul of the music
Any song with the word "featuring" in the artists name
Foo Fighters
People who wear Ramones / Motorhead shirts whilst having no idea who they were / are
Andrew Edwards on Radio Leeds
Queen post Freddie. It's not Queen
Bands without instruments
Meatloaf
"Talent" shows which specialise in oversinging, boy / girl "bands" and the national humiliation of the mentally ill
The oxygen in Cheryl Coles and Lily Allens blood
Superstar DJs
Tribute bands who wear wigs etc
Jonathan Ross punk rock reminiscences
The holy status of the Beatles
Bands who reform and pretend it's not about money
Annie Lennox
Although I love them, the fact that Motorheads stage banter hasn't changed in about 5 years
Singers who emphasise the last syllable in the word "moment"
Endless inane songs about love
American "punk" with fizzy guitars and nasal, whiny, 40 year olds singing about their "mom"
Ramshackle punk rock covers for all the family..............www.facebook.com/kerpunkuk

The Beatles status is such because they are the best band that have ever been, or will be.

It goes without saying though. I wouldn't put 'rain is wet' in a post as its obvious.

Reply part 1

Calling a group a band when they don't play instruments

Agreed

Modern R&B.
Deaf Metal.

Agreed - even though I like metal, most Death metal I find OK until the vocals start.

singers who sing a dozen notes when one will do, just so that people will know whaat a great voice they have got.

step forward Maria Carey and Whitney Huston.

Agreed +100000000 - cannot stand singers who do this

the tacky kind of country music which meant that for years I didn't realise what a fantastic genre it is apart from the appalling Gram Parsons.

Not sure which songs/artists you are talking about here, but some country is utter ######, while other stuff I actually like.

Miming - you wouldn't get away with pretending to do your job so why is it acceptable for singers to mime

Sampling - write your own tunes if you're "soooooo talented"

Auto tune - if I go to a gig I want "warts and all" and not artificially produced performances

Agreed to all 3.

'pyrotechnic' guitar players whose attempts to play as many notes per bar as possible demonstrates nothing but their total lack of soul.

Agreed again.

All of Hornetto's list apart from Rush, and singers who go 2-3-4 - I do like The Ramones.

Reply part 2 - I had too many quotes for one post.

heavy metal, especially spandex poodle bands, and that sub genre that has singers singing in a kind of growling grunting voice that sounds like the giant in an amateur production of jack in the beanstalk

Cannot agree with this one, I do like Heavy Metal (you'd never guess going by the username), even some poodle- my youth was spent listening to it. Although I do not like the growling/grunting ###### that bands seem to do nowadays. If you listen to Trivium, Matt Heafey does have a good singing voice.

'songs' that reference bitches, hos, bustin caps, or killing cops.

Agreed

rap: what's up can't they think of a tune?

Agreed

Napalm Death the most horrendous caterwauling I've ever come across (Jesus I'm now officially my dad!!)

Agreed

Multimillionaire singers like Bono, Annie Lennox and Chris Martin asking us to dip into our pockets for charity. No you do it.

Agreed

RnB - Full Stop
Tough guy rappers who sing about money, murder, bitches etc. - agreed
Musos who value the technicalities above the feel and soul of the music - agreed
Any song with the word "featuring" in the artists name - sort of, depends who is featured.
Foo Fighters - I like them
People who wear Ramones / Motorhead shirts whilst having no idea who they were / are - very annoying
Queen post Freddie. It's not Queen - agreed
Bands without instruments - agreed
Meatloaf - I don't mind some stuff.
"Talent" shows which specialise in oversinging, boy / girl "bands" and the national humiliation of the mentally ill - agreed
The oxygen in Cheryl Coles and Lily Allens blood - agreed
Superstar DJs - agreed
Tribute bands who wear wigs etc - not too bothered by this
Jonathan Ross punk rock reminiscences - don't watch him, so cannot say either way.
The holy status of the Beatles - I don't mind some of their stuff
Bands who reform and pretend it's not about money - agreed, just say it's about the money and have done with it.
Annie Lennox - doesn't bother me, doesn't excite me.
Although I love them, the fact that Motorheads stage banter hasn't changed in about 5 years - saw them once, walked out after 20 mins - couldn't hear any of the music or lyrics - way too loud.
Singers who emphasise the last syllable in the word "moment"
Endless inane songs about love -agreed
American "punk" with fizzy guitars and nasal, whiny, 40 year olds singing about their "mom"

So I replied to those posts which I could. Most of the things I don't like were already mentioned.

Tribute bands who wear wigs etc

A couple of months ago there was a pretty good Hendrix tribute band playing at the Black Swan in Bradford. The bassist had a very obvious afro wig on ... when he took it off after the gig had ended, he had really long hair anyway.

I saw a Thin Lizzy tribute band in Idle, who were pretty good and the lead singer 'blacked up' and wore an afro wig.

People who say 'music is rubbish today and there are no good bands'.

There are. Get off your ass and check them out, its never been easier. In fact, you don't even have to leave your seat these days with things like YT and Reverb Nation. Just do it.

I agree very much with what has been posted already, as I like music.
