Hidden away amongst reams of RU coverage in today's Observer is this article by Andy Wilson about a husband and wife refereeing team.

As this is being presented here as an international match is this yet another insidious attempt by the NRL to apply more of their rules in international games. Or am I being paranoid?

I'd let the NFL take over the whole of the game here, to be honest.

I don't really see the problem with this. If the NRL, or NRL referees, are helping out with this fixture then why not use their system of refereeing? It isn't as though it will affect the way the game is played.

Phillipines won 86-0 though they had Evringham brothers ( Bunnies) and Matty Srama (Gold Coast Hooker) playing from NRL teams which probably helped.

Now that would be interesting. Would Hunslet go back to Elland Rd do you think?

on the topic of the press, just noticed on facebook the free 'Sport' magazine, handed out on the London Underground every Friday, has published 294 images of its previous front covers. And not once has RL been featured. Pretty much every other sport has, but no RL. Not a Challenge Cup Final, Grand FInal or World cup Final has made its way onto their front cover..

They have been noticeably more positive about RL in the last year or so* on their inside pages, but as with the rest of the British sports media, are still wedded to the usual narrow repetitive rota of sports (Olympics excepted) that get the cover story treatment.

*unlike after the last RWC, which written up with little more than "New Zealand won - pity it was the wrong Rugby World Cup".

Matty's brother Luke also played.
Luke played all last season for Coventry Bears, unfortunately he has now gone home and will be missed by fans and players alike.
Luke is the player not singing standing next to the flag carrier in the clip below.
