Thought we were short of backs too, with Trevor Clark in the centres and Paul Hughes' 1st game as a winger.

Probably old age but my memory's convinced that they were down to 11 men by the end as well?

Robin - the match was on 29 October, 1989 (2,137 crowd). The return match at Barrow on 21 January 1990 saw Rovers win easily 46-0 (1,289 crowd).
Incidentally, the win at Fev was Barrow's only victory in an 18 month period. I missed the match at Fev so watched non-stop defeats for the whole 18 months! Barrow defeated Whitehaven at Craven Park in April 1989 and I saw that match. The next time I witnessed a Barrow win a competitive match was a victory over Dewsbury at Craven Park in October 1990 - a period of almost 18 months!
What is even dafter is that after a run of nothing but defeats like that Barrow was still pulling in crowds circa 1,300 in the old Division Two (about our average last year in Championship 1).
