So the new deal, i.e. big money - speaks loudest and appears to be steering the game.
An extra game a week seems to be one too many to squeeze into the TV deal that'll run until 2017.
If it does take a few extra years for the expansion clubs talked about then the big delay will test their resolve.

Hmm ? The hinted at blurb on 'expansion' on the 6pm news was maybe after 2014 ?
Yet a quick look at the NRL.com release you see this graphic.

Disappointing as for me Perth needs a team ASAP. The new lot have failed to impress me so far with their decisions and seem to be frightened to expand the game or take money from the greedy NRL to support the development of the game at amateur level especially in the bush. The pathetic Harriagan/Raper saga and for me there is a lack of real direction to push ahead.The game in Australia is being held back by selfish clubs and players once again with the ARL too weak and scared to stand up to them. The failure to push and support International Rugby League and the argueing over SOO requirements its no wonder AFL is ahead of League. Our game is blighted by self interest instead of whats good for the game as a whole at so many levels.

This at first sounds somewhat fanciful.
There's enough aussies playing in Super League already to make a decent team up! The next step is to go the whole hog and set up a whole aussie entity in SL ... or is that just a none starter??????
Unless this is a new, weird entity it will need spectators/fans to turn up and support the club. Hang on then ... maybe they'll just buy out an existing club and rebrand it?
