That's the thing in the NRL - if something's not right , decisive action is taken.
What glowing praise is heaped on Harrigan and Raper as they are given the boot.
How about three refs on the pitch and four touch judges with three or four video refs. I patent that idea!
Hang on though maybe you can have too much of a good/bad thing!

Harrigan wants his successor only to be someone who's been a referee not for example a coach.
He wants the new refs' boss to see the game from the refs point of view being empathetic to refs.
The point is Bill we need to consider all options here.
Doing it your way hasn't exactly brought the results needed.

Harrigan says the rule book needs overhauling as it "no longer fits the modern game". There`s nothing with the rules,it was you Bill who kept trying to get every decision right and the more you try,the more you fail, because it can`t be done. One thing he has said and I totally agree with,is to dump the ridiculous "benefit of the doubt try". What a contradiction in terms and it should never have been brought in,so I hope they do as Bill says there. It was Bill`s idea to bring in two refs,so I suppose now that he`s gone, the new bloke (Russell Smith?) will change it back to one ref. I`d personally like to see these refs start to make their own decisions instead of referring upstairs all the time, sometimes even when they have the best view in the house. Also, how about a word from the man upstairs for forward passes? Some are so blatant a blind man can see them,so there`s no way a team should be rewarded for all three/four officials missing them. Anyway,we`ll see.

Applying common sense to the mix would be good. Running the incident through again at normal speed, rather than applying a vivid imagination to a frame by frame run through alone would make sense This being to just to double check that the decision to be announced stacks up..
