Just settling down to watch my first game.

The preliminaries seen to go on for ever.

Not sure who rang the American anthem but our Catherine can give her a lesson in breathing!

Give over.

The Rams play in blue and yellow.

You will never be able to nod off as long as you're concentrating on hating them.

Tend to agree. Bill Fallowfield would have a job defending this to king George and he didn't have to contend with the ads.
Lost interest after an hour.

That's because they've got a second live match following this one.

I read the game finished 45-7. What is the points system in gridiron? Certainly one sided.

Touchdown is 6 points with usually a virtually guaranteed 1 point conversion to follow. You can have a 2 pt conversion but that's harder to convert.

Three points for a field goal.

Two points for a safety (comparatively rare).

45-7 in NFL is a massacre.

6 points for a touchdown
1 point for an extra point (= a conversion)
2 points for a run across the goal line from a dummied extra point
3 points for a field goal (place kick)
3 points for a drop kick (I've never seen one attempted in a game)

Just googled this.

There's been one successful drop kick in the NFL in the last 71 years: in 2006 Doug Flutie hit one for an extra point after touchdown.

The last attempt was in 2010 in the NFL and also in last year's Pro Bowl.

I've read many tweets from many people, most of them RL people. And I haven't seen one negative one. Massacre or not.

In fact one player who was asking 'what's the point of the Wales game' was waxing lyrical.

You're forgetting the one that Burt Reynolds got against the prison guards in The Mean Machine.

It just made me exasperated. I aren't getting into a spat over it.

God, I am going senile. It was called The Longest Yard and later remade as The Mean Machine, but the remake was based on soccer rather than American Football.
