Apparently the head of Channel 9 said during the TV contract talks that he felt that more games would add nothing to the contract. You could argue, that as he wouldn't want to pay any more than he has done, he would say that.

Also, many of the NRL clubs are still pleading poverty. The Titans has well publicised problems this year, which isnt fully resolved, and the Tigers are apparently in some problems as well. The ARLC wants to 'shore up' the existing clubs first.

At least they've got a nice new logo... :rolleyes:

Gyngall's comments have been taken way out of context I think. He said that the morning after a sleepless 24hr negotiation session where the ARL basically held him over a barrel...

The ARL have made a massive commitment to restructure the game at all levels and they need to know the lay of the land before they doing something big like add new clubs. Two seasons will pass in the blink of an eye.
