I believe clubs are being made to issue squad numbers to players next season.
Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Ive heard this rumour too on other fans forums. Dont know why the RFL is going back down this track. Last years reintroduction of traditional squad numbers was said to have been done to save teams money, since some CC clubs were using 30 + players in a season due to turnover, but theyve obviousl changed their minds now.
Using numbers 1-17 allow fans to know who is playing in what position, and for spectators new to the sport allows them to recognise positions rather than players.

Did it save clubs money? Surely having to have all different size tops in each number was more costly than each player having there own tops?

Shirts have to have the players name on from 1 to 25,So players will have their own shirts, with a few spare (unnamed) for any dual reg, loan players etc.
