That's the thing though. It shouldn't be his choice where it's played. It should be a joint decision between the RFL and the ARL or really the RLIF. It should also be announced where it is a lot earlier so they can build up the event all year round like they do the GF and CCF.

GH has constantly stated he would play the WCC in Oz,Dubai etc but as AndyCapp has stated the NRL don't take it seriously.

its always in England at a time to suit the English Club weeks before the NRL starts.

It's always during the SL season which means the English side has to play a midweek match to make up for it. If you have it later, then it's disrupting both teams' seasons and the SL club would have been playing for 2 months!

So when do you suggest the game takes place so that it's fair?

And before you say "after the grand final", let me know how easy/cheap you think it would be to book flights to Australia (or the other way round) with up to 2 weeks notice. And when are the internationals going to take place?

Why does it have to be played four weeks into the Superleague season.
The WCC should be played before both seasons start i think Superleague season should start in the first week in March and I think what should have been done last year is that Wigan, Salford or St Helens should have been allowed to play a home SL game on the same friday night as the WCC given that Lancashire fans won't support a Yorkshire team given that BBC Radio Manchester who cover Wigan and Salford and BBC Radio Merseyside who cover Widnes and St Helens with both Manchester/Merseyside covering Warrington obviously won't send commentators/reporters to the World Club Championship with the Rhinos if say Salford are at home to Wigan/Warrington/Widnes/St Helens on the same weekend as the WCC Salford should be allowed to play it on the Friday of the WCC game given that Sale could end up playing on the Sunday for TV reasons and a big attendance for Salford given that are Lancashire SL fans who would want to support their team rather than watch Leeds

So if Leeds were to get a couple of weeks warm weather training before the game, it would presumably have to be before the SL season starts, which would be January. The NRL clubs dont even start playing pre season games til February, so they wouldn't agree to a match that early. Unless you're suggesting that Leeds take a few weeks out of SL just to prepare for the WCC? The only other way is to play the game as now without a couple of weeks 'warm weather training', but would Leeds really be happy to play a SL match on Friday, fly down under and play a WCC game in Oz the following weekend?

Until a clear gap in the fixtures on both sides of the world can be found, we'll have the WCC in this country annually with the NRL clubs treating it as a glorified trial game.

I don't see there would be any problem playing the match in May or at any time to suit the Aussie's. It's been moved a few weeks later into the SL season to suit the Aussies, so our club has to play a mid week match. Makes no difference if the WCC is played in SL Round 3 or round 13 to be honest. Clearly if the match was in Oz, the SL club would need to juggle two fixtures to allow them to travel , but that could be achieved.

A club like Leeds would build their season around peaking for the WCC, Challenge Cup and play-offs.

The reason it doesn't happen is because the Aussies can't see any short-term benefit in it for them.

If it's played any earlier, NRL clubs will barely be in their pre-season!
