Frankly they could put a six month out of date sausage in a blue rosette up for election in her constituency and it would be elected for the conservatives. That's the problem with safe seats regardless of the party. You are more likely to get extreme views coming up through and people just won't vote for any other party. It was a similar problem in Hull with Prescott. Most people I knew from Hull hated him but they wouldn't vote for any party other than labour.

So no don't get all high and mighty over electoral endorsement. It's not usually about who you are or what you stand for, just which colour rosette you wear and where you nail your flag.

well, no. She is expressing her opinion and fulfilling her mandate as an elected politician. I certainly don't recall her coming on here and telling you what to think...I think.

For the candidate... though I'm probably a fool for doing that as the party generally overrides the individual's will. Sadly though most people vote for the party, and in fact in modern politics seem to think its more similar to a presidential election and vote for the party leader. (and yes)

good, I'm sure you are right, though why assume that most people vote for the party? The "feeling" I have is that in the Commissioner elections, the Independents will do quite well. As for Mad Nad, I think maybe Andrew Mitchell did what he did just to avoid having to "whip" her.

This will annoy many people on here but I liked Nick Cleggs joke comment yesterday at PMQ's that he thought sending her to the Aus jungle to eat bugs and live rough was the new chief whip stamping his authority on the situation.

Politicians attempting to make jokes usually falls massively flat, even though they get braying laughter from their own side in the house.

Most of them are about as funny as, well, you know the metaphor.
