Just reading on Twitter that Sheffield Eagles have announced a new partnership with the French Elite league club Limoux Grizzlies. Puts a new slant on all the link-ups that are being announced!!!

I remember when .............................

"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimension, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave Hadfield - Independent 25th August 1996.

That is quite astute of Sheffield IMO as they are likely to benefit more in the long term than keeping some super league squad players fit. A link up with Catalan dragons would make a nice per season friendly for us!
The race is not always to the swift nor the battle to the strong, but thats the way to bet!

is that really a good idea though? sheffield will have to accomadate these players as they cant just jump in a car and drive back to france after a game. best of luck to them but it could prove costly.

The French league is winter (October - April) so there's not much overlap with our league. Sheffield could take players for almost the whole of our season without it affecting Limoux.

Workington Town. Then. Now. Always.
