Dewsbury Rams are delighted to inform supporters and members of the media of the latest plans to develop the Tetley’s Stadium, which the club hopes will help cement the ground’s position as one of the best equipped in rugby league.

Opened in 1994, the Tetley’s Stadium is currently comprised of two stands, which run down each touchline, but plans to add standing accommodation for supporters behind both sets of posts and increase the capacity of the ground are at an advanced stage. It is hoped that the ‘Dewsbury Rams Development Proposal’, which was unveiled earlier this year, will bring a host of new facilities to the land surrounding the playing arena. And the possibility of a new stand at the Bywell Road end (West) of the ground is part of the club's vision for the development.

More information about those plans can be found here.

And following the culmination of the 2012 season, several long-standing supporters of the club have pressed on with plans to erect terracing at the Owl Lane end (East) of the ground.

Graham Beaumont is one of the fans behind the project, and he reports that great progress has been made. We’ve submitted all that’s required and we’re just waiting now for the green light to commence work - we’re ready to go,” said Beaumont. A pathway running around the pitch is complete and we have funding in place already for us to complete 60% of the project. And, while that percentage is growing, we’re hopeful of getting other individuals and local businesses on board. It’s costing us around £4,000 per step and we want to try and get it done as quickly as possible, as we can then get the barriers put in place and permission to use it.”

Several individuals have already made substantial contributions to the project, and Beaumont is calling on his fellow supporters and members of the business community to lend a hand for the final stretch.

“We need a big push and for people to get behind this project. We’ve made great progress so far - a lot of money has been generated and a lot of hard work has been put in - but we need help to get over that finish line. There’s a great opportunity here for sponsors to come on board with what we’re trying to do and further contributions will be gratefully received and noted as a part of the finished project. We appreciate that it’s a difficult time, and we intend to fully recognise anybody that puts money towards this.”

A fundraising event is to be held at the stadium on January 18, but until then, supporters, individuals and businesses who feel they can help the Rams achieve their off-field ambitions are urged to contact the club immediately.

Dewsbury seem to be making enormous strides on both on and off field sides of the club. I wish them well, except when they play the C.ougars The Championships will be very interesting next season due to the realignment of teams a nd the various improvements such as this one. Unlike the SL where it will be same old, same old.

According to some the future is already set in stone so why are they bothering?
